Can you believe December is already here?  Here is a quick and easy ornament to make.

Let it Snow!

I used aluminum flashing from the hardware store.  You can also use soda cans which you cut open.  Barb Mullikin has a video to show you how.
Big Shot:  Snowflake #2 page 220 #113460
Other:  Ribbon of choice
Button or other decoration of choice
Tin snips or Craft & Rubber Scissors page 208 #108360

Cut open soda can or cut aluminum flashing to desired size.  Be careful not to slice or cut yourself!!!!
2.  Make a sandwich to run through your Big Shot:  cutting pad, card board and/or card stock shim, Snowflake #2 die, metal, cutting pad.  I use the card board that comes with the dies and a piece of card stock for my shim.  Each Big Shot is slightly different.  You might have to play around a couple of times to get it so all the little parts come right out.  After the metal is cut, it is no longer sharp.
3.  Decorate as desired.  I threaded a button with 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon going around the snowflake before threading the button’s second hole.  I used the same ribbon as a cord to hang from the tree.

Twisted Christmas Container

We made this interesting container at my last class.  It is a lot larger than the containers I usually make.  You can vary the size easily.

Merry Christmas Gift Container!

Stamps:  Jolly Bingo Bits page 41  w#120857  c#121187
Card Stock:  Garden Green or Cherry Cobbler 4-1/4” x 5-1/2”, plus scraps for punching
Whisper White scrap for stamping and punching
Designer Series Paper (DSP):  3” x 8-1/2”  I used the Holly Berry Bouquet (Holiday Mini ) page 20 #124004
Punches:  1” Circle  #119868
1-1/4″ Circle  #119861
Scallop Circle  #119854
Ribbon:  Cherry Cobbler 3/8″ Quilted Satin Ribbon (Holiday Mini) page 30  #124105  approximately 12”
Adhesives:  Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue
Sticky Strip
Mini Glue Dots
Other:  Crimper page 207  #101618

1.   Glue DSP to card stock with Tombow multipurpose adhesive.
2.  Place Sticky Strip (red tape) along one short edge and 2 long edges of card stock.  Peel off red backing.
3.  Roll container so the short edges are touching.  Adhere with the Sticky Strip.
4.  Pinch the bottom closed with the seam line in the center back.  Fill container.  Secure top so that it is going at a 90 degree angle to the bottom.
5.  Crimp ends.  (You will feel like you are “stuffing” the end in.  Try to stuff it in evenly.  Pinch and roll crimper several turns one way.  Then turn the lever the opposite way and back out your container.)
6.  Tie ribbon in desired spot and adhere with glue dots in 1-2 places.
7.  Choose stamp and stamp with desired ink or color with markers.  Stamp on Whisper White card stock scrap.  Punch with 1” circle punch.  Punch a coordinating Scallop Circle.  Adhere stamped circle to scallop circle.  Adhere Scallop Circle to container with Dimensionals.
8.  Happy gift giving!

Happy Stamping!

Merry Christmas Postcard

We made this festive card at my last class.

Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas!

Stamp:  Merry Christmas Postcard  page 19  w#121428
Card Stock:  Wild Wasabi card base
Garden Green
Whisper White
Ink:  Garden Green
Markers:  Real Red-Merry Christmas, poinsettia lines, dots on bells, dots on Wild Wasabi card base
More Mustard-dark colored bells
So Saffron-light colored bells
Wild Wasabi-holly leaves
Old Olive-bows
Certainly Celery-leaves on Garden Green
Big Shot:  Label Nestabilities (Not SU-BUT just wait until January………!!)
Festive Finishes Letterpress Plate (Holiday Mini) page 21  #124097

1.   Letterpress Plate & Big Shot.  Ink Letterpress Plate by patting ink pad onto raised surface.  Wipe the lower flat part clean with a baby wipe.  Make sandwich for Big Shot:  Multipurpose Platform with top tab open (otherwise you will damage your Letterpress Plate), Letterpress Plate, card stock placed so you have the design where you want it (I tape mine in place with Painter’s Tape that I have adhered to my jeans a couple of times to remove a lot of the sticky), Clear acrylic cutting pad (use one with the least cut marks on it).  Run through Big Shot and carefully remove the acrylic cutting pad and the card stock.  Resist the urge to touch the design until the ink is dry.  The design will be slightly debossed.
2.  Color in the leaves on your Letterpress image with Certainly Celery marker.  Color the dots with a Real Red or Cherry Cobbler marker-use the end of the brush tip to just make a quick dot.
3.  Stamp Merry Christmas with Garden Green ink onto the Whisper White card stock.
4.  Color stamped image with markers.
Real Red:  Merry Christmas (use brush tip), (use small tip) poinsettia center petal lines, dots on bells.
Certainly Celery or Wild Wasabi:  Holly Leaves
More Mustard:  Bells at the back, front bell lower inside
So Saffron:  Front bells
5.  Big Shot.  Position larger Nestability frame on Garden Green card stock with flat edge facing up in desired position.  Tape the Nestability on.  (I use Painter’s tape that I have taped to my jeans a couple of times so the paper won’t tear when it is removed.)  Sandwich Layers:  Multipurpose Platform with tab 1 (tab 2 will be opened), Cutting pad (with the least cut marks), card stock with Nestability on the bottom (you won’t be able to see your design), Cutting pad with the cut marks.  Run through Big Shot.
6.  Big Shot.  Position smaller Nestablility frame with flat edge facing up in desired position around stamped image.
7.  Adhere Merry Christmas layer onto Garden Green layer.  Add Rhinestone to large poinsettia center.  Put Dimensionals on back of Garden Green layer.  Remove backing and position on card base.

Happy Stamping!

Shaking Serene Snowflakes

This was a fun card to make!  It was also pretty simple.

Look at those sparkles!

  Serene snowflakes  page 36  w#115438
All Holidays (oops, I didn’t realize this retired!) or Sentiment of choice
Card Stock:  Whisper White  4″ x 5-1/4″ card front
Marina Mist  card base  5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″
Ink:  Marina Mist
Rich Razzleberry
Melon Mambo
Elegant Eggplant
Punches:  variety of circle punches
Other:  Window Sheet  page 216  #114323
Mica Flakes (Holiday Mini) page 21  #124115
Shaker Frames (Holiday Mini) page 38  #124155

I would recommend stamping the sentiment first on your Whisper White card front so you know it will fit.  Stamp it in Elegant Eggplant.
2.  Stamp snowflakes in desired colors and positions.  Keep some closer to the edge so you can punch them out.   Also stamp the snowflakes you want to punch out on a scrap of Whisper White card stock.
3.  Punch out the desired snowflake on your card front using a punch that will just be at the inner edge of the desired shaker frame.  Punch a circle from the window sheet in the next larger circle punch.   Adhere over the punched circle hole with Snail.
4.  Put the shaker Frame around the punched out circle on top of the window sheet.  DO NOT peel off the paper around the top just yet.  Put desired amount of Mica Flakes inside the Shaker Frame.
5.  Punch the extra coordinating stamped  snowflake in this larger circle also (Use the same punch you used for your window sheet).  Remove the paper from the Shaker Frame top and put the matching snowflake circle over the Shaker Frame trying to match up the designs.  This takes a special technique of crinking your neck under the card so you can match up the snowflake while trying not to spill Mica flakes all over the place.
6.  Repeat steps 3-5 with desired snowflakes.
7.  Cut the center circle Shaker Frame into four triangle shapes.  Use these instead of Dimensionals and place at the corners of your card front.  Center and adhere to Marina Mist card base.
8.  Shake or rotate your card and watch the sparkly Mica Flakes move!

We made these cards at my last class.  Mine is the first one.  My daughter-in-law stepped hers up a bit, so I am showing hers also.

The stocking were hung by the chimney with care...
Here is Kristi’s stepped up version. hopes that Saint Nickolas soon would be there.

Stitched Stockings  (Holiday Mini) page 34  w#123782  c#123784
Bright Hopes  (Holiday Mini) page 32  w#122690  c#122692
Woodgrain page 151 #117100
Inks:  Garden Green
Real Red
Cherry Cobbler
Poppy Parade
Early Espresso (Kristi’s-woodgrain on mantle)
Card Stock:  Whisper White
River Rock
Basic Gray
Basic Black (Kristi’s-fireplace center)
Cherry Cobbler (Kristi’s-rug)
Punch:  Stocking Builder  (Holiday Mini) page 34  #124095
Big Shot:  Top Note die (fireplace mantle) page 222  #113463
Stripes embossing folder  page 218  #123128
Square Lattice embossing folder  page 218  #119976
non SU scalloped oval Nestability for rug
Embellishments:  Mini Jingle Bells  (Holiday Mini)  page 30  #124116
Cherry Cobbler 1/2″ Scallop Dots Ribbon  page 195  #124138
Basic Pearls  page 198  #119247
Real Red 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon page 195  #119251  (Kristi’s)
Cherry Cobbler/White Baker’s Twine  page 194  #123125  (Kristi’s)
VersaMark Ink pad, Black Embossing powder page 201  #109133 (Kristi’s-rug sentiment)
Black marker (Kristi’s-around rug)
non SU:  Red Sharpie marker

Stamp wreath in Garden Green on Whisper White card front (4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″).  Position in Stripes embossing folder making sure top portion with wreath is positioned as desired.   Color pearls with Red Sharpie marker as place as desired on wreath.  I also used some white pearls.  I used the smallest size.  Tie desired ribbon in a knot or bow.  Adhere to wreath with glue dots.
2.  Run Basic Gray card stock (2-1/2″ x 4-1/4″), and Basic Black card stock (about 2″square) if desired, through Big Shot using Square Lattice embossing folder.  Adhere to bottom of card front for your fireplace.
3.  Cut River Rock “mantle” (3/4″ or 1″ x 4-1/2″) using Top Note die, being sure to cut the longest side.   Stamp Woodgrain on with Early Espresso ink if desired.  Adhere to card front:  flat-use Snail; for 3D effect: place one Dimensional at edge then place 2 Dimensionals stacked together next to the 1 Dimensional (do at both side edges and in center).  You want the top of the mantle to be close to the striped embossed card stock, and you want the mantle raised/higher toward the Gray card stock.  Hopefully this is clearer than mud.  🙂
4.  Stamp stockings on Whisper White cardstock and decorate as desired.  Punch with Stocking punch.  If using Baker’s twine, punch hole with Paper Piercing tool and thread twine through hole and tie a bow (You can also pierce a hole in the mantle to attach the stockings with Baker’s twine).  If using Mini Jingle Bells, adhere with glue dots.
5a. If you want a flat card, attach the whole card front to the 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ Whisper White card base.  You are finished!
5b.  If you want an Easel Card:  score the 4-1/4″ x 11″ Whisper White card base at around 3″ (depending on how you want you easel) and 5-1/2″.  Fold as shown in picture.  Lay the card front over the card base with the extra fold.  Adhere card front to the card base at the lower half only-the top needs to be adhesive free so the card can stand up properly. (See photo)  Now make a rug using the Nestability, an oval punch or die cut, or a rectangle piece of card stock.  It needs to be wide enough and deep enough to look nice in front of the fireplace and to help your card stand up at the desired angle.  Stamp or decorate as desired.  Adhere with Dimensionals.  Stand it up and admire your beautiful card.
Happy Stamping!
