Watercoloring with Markers

Have you tried Watercoloring with Markers? It is a quick and easy technique. I used Stampin’ Write Markers by Stampin’ Up! I did forget to mention that I used the thicker Brush Tip.

This Video is just over 5 minutes long.

SUPPLIES:

Stamps: Floral Essence. Photopolymer #149450
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Stampin’ Write Markers: Lovely Lipstick
Real Red
Cardstock: Thick Whisper White #140272
Shimmery White #101910
Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper #149612
Tool: Aqua Painter #103954
Water from your sink

TIPS:

*1. Papers:
~Using the Aqua Painter and water on Regular Whisper White warps the cardstock.
~Thick Whisper White did not warp.
~Shimmery White and Watercolor Paper can handle more water on the project and not warp.

2. Stamping:
~I used Memento ink because StazOn ink permanently stains your Photopolymer stamps.
~Stampin’ Up! recommends using StazOn ink with Water.
~Now let your ink dry for a few minutes before starting the watercoloring process to prevent smears.

3. Coloring:
~Use the thicker Brush Tip.
~Color with the lighter color first and color in all the parts you want colored.
~You can leave some white space if you want a really light color.
~Color in all the parts you want shaded with the darker color marker. Color the parts that would be darker in nature.

4. Watercoloring
~Lightly squeeze your Aqua Painter in your hand to get the tip wet.
~Do not squeeze your Aqua Painter while coloring on Whisper White cardstock.
~Thick Whisper White cardstock can handle a very small amount of water without warping.
~If you want to use more water on your project, then choose Shimmery White cardstock or Watercolor Paper.

~Use your Aqua Painter to blend the colors together where you colored. I usually go over the area two or three times until I like the look.
~Let dry.
~Use on your project.

*1. Flowers:
~The Flower in the corner is just colored with Markers. It will be glued to the card front.
~The other two Flowers are watercolored. Put Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back of the two watercolored Flowers.
~Hand cut out the flowers.

2. Cut your Blushing Bride:
~Card base: 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″. Score and fold at 4-1/4″.
~Card front: 4″ x 5-1/4″. Ink up one side of the Embossing Folder with your ink pad. Insert your card front and run through your Big Shot. Look for a video next Friday on how to do this. Glue your card front on to your card base. Here is a video on using the NEW 3D Embossing Folder Plate.

3. Leaves:
~Stamp your leaves 9 times total with Garden Green ink on Pear Pizzazz and Old Olive cardstock. I did not have enough of either just laying on my table so I used both…. not in the mood to get up…
~Punch out with the Leaf Punch.
~You might as well punch out three 1/2″ circles from Gold Glimmer Paper and glue them to the centers of your flowers now.

4. Put together your card:
~I just used Tombow Glue to attach the leaves.
~Lay out the flowers and the leaves where you want them on the card front.
~Start gluing down the leave that are under the two flowers closest to the card bottom.
~Glue down the Flower that was just colored with Markers into the lower left corner so some of the leaves show.

~Attach the leaves around the second lower Flower outside close to the card edge. Add the leaves in the center both along the outside card edge and in between the Flowers after the third Flower is attached.
~Now attach the lower Watercolored Flower.

~Add leaves around the top Watercolored Flower, the add the last Watercolored Flower.
~Now add the Leaves in the center with two of the leaves glued to the top of the flower petals.
~Glue the last leaves under the top Flower with one leaf on top of the lower corner flower.
Your Watercoloring with Markers Card is finished.
