3.  Cut out the two jars with your Stitched Square Framelit and Big Shot.  Cut out the “Thanks” with an Oval Stitched Framelit.

Die Cut Leaf Border Card

I saw a card with a die cut Leaf Border and made my own.  It was pretty simple.
Die Cut Leaf Border CardSUPPLIES:
Stamps:  Sheltering Tree  Photopolymer #137163
Vintage Leaves  Photopolymer #138802
Ink:  Cajun Craze
Chocolate Chip
Card Stock:  Whisper White
Delightful Dijon
Crushed Curry
Tangerine Tango
Cajun Craze
Cherry Cobbler
Big Shot:  Leaflets Framelits #138283
Other:  Linen Thread #104199
Fast Fust or SNAIL
Tombow Glue

1.  Cut your Delightful Dijon card stock at 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″.  Score and fold at 4-1/4″.
2.  Cut your Whisper White card stock at 3-3/4″ x 5-1/2″.
3.  Cut your Leaf Border on Whisper White card stock using the smallest Leaf Framelit.  Make a mark on the BACK side of the card stock so you can easily put your card stock leaves on correctly.  Cut the center Leaf first with the FRONT side up, then the two outside edges having the stem go the same direction.  Cut the last two leaves with the stam going the opposite direction.
4.  Stamp your small leaves using Chocolate Chip ink on Crushed Curry, Delightful Dijon, Tangerine Tango, Cajun Craze, and Cherry Cobbler card stock.  Cut out with scissors leaving about 1/8″ border around the leaf and just cutting to a point at the end of the stem.
5.  Turn your Whisper White over so the mark on the BACK side shows.  Put Tombow Glue around the first leaf cut out.  Hold up the Whisper White card stock and line up the tip of the stamped leaf with the cut out, then finish lining up the rest of the leaf and stem.  Press the edges well so the glue sticks all around the leaf edges.  Repeat with the other leaves.
6.  Stamp your sentiment in Cajun Craze ink on your Whisper White card stock.
7.  Tie some Linen Thread in a bow around the Whisper White card front.  Put some Fast Fuse or SNAIL on the back edges of the card including under the Linen Thread.      Straighten the Linen Thread.  Attach your Whisper White card front to your Delightful Dijon card base.

I hope you enjoy making your OWN Die Cut Borders using smaller Framelits.

Pyramid Pumpkin and Turkey Decorations

I was watching a video about someone making diamond shaped decorations and decided to try and make a Pumpkin and a Turkey using a Pyramid shape.  These were pretty quick and easy.
Turkey & pumpkin decorationsSUPPLIES:
Ink:  Peekaboo Peach Marker – Pumpkin
Tangerine Tango ink pad – Turkey
Basic Black Marker – Turkey
Pumpkin Card Stock:  Pumpkin Pie
Garden Green
Turkey Card Stock:  Soft Suede
Tangerine Tango
Real Red
Cherry Cobbler
Cajun Craze
Pumpkin Pie
Delightful Dijon
Daffodil Delight
Big Shot:  Pyramid Pals Framelits #140618
Flower Fair Framelits #133731 Pumpkin
Layering Circles Framelits #141705
Adhesive:  Tombow Glue

If you want to open the Pyramids so you can put something inside: Put a piece of tape on the inside of the tips, then after decorating, punch a 1/16″ hole about 1/8″ from the  tip of each Triangle.  Decorate the Pyramids.  Close the Pyramids by threading Baker’s Twine through the holes.  Tabs:  You can glue the Front to the Tabs, but not the Back Triangle.
Cut a piece of Pumpkin Pie card stock at 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″.  Cut two of the Pyramid shape Framelits.  Fold all score lines so both pieces are the same.
2.  Draw oval like shapes on each triangle with the Peekaboo Peach Marker.
3.  Put glue on the top side of one of the bottom squares.  Attach the other square on top making sure that the sides with the tabs are opposite each other.
4.  Cut a 1/8″ x 5-1/2″ strip of Garden Green card stock for the curly vines.  Run a bone folder over it to start it curling.  Find something round and narrow to wrap it around and curl it.  I used one of my grandson’s metal cooking spoons with the round metal part about 1/8″ in diameter.  Curl the strip around the round piece holding the end to keep it in place.  Gently unwrap the strip so you keep the curl in.  Cut it in half  Glue both pieces to the tip so one part sticks up and the other angles across.
5.  Cut a little stem from Garden Green card stock.  You can cut a Garden Green leaf from the Flower Fair Framelits or just cut it with scissors.  Glue the stem on top of the pyramid tip and over the curly vines.  Glue the leaf to the stem.

1.  Cut a piece of Soft Suede
card stock at 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″.  Cut two of the Pyramid shape Framelits.  Fold all score lines so both pieces are the same.
2.  Choose one of the Triangle sides without tabs to be the Turkey front.  Cut 3 Scallop Circles from Soft Suede card stock.  Cut the circles in half.  Sponge the scallops with Tangerine Tango ink.  Layer and Glue the circles together.  Glue to the Front Triangle.  Trim off the excess.
3.  Cut a Beak from Tangerine Tango card stock.  Cut two “Bunny Ears” of each color:  Daffodil Delight, Delightful Dijoh, Pumpkin Pie, Tangerine Tango, Cajun Craze, and Cherry Cobbler.  Hand cut the two Real Red piece to make the Wattle and the Comb.
4.  Glue the Wattle onto the back of the lower Beak.  Glue the bottom of the Beak to the top of the Scallop Circles.  Draw the Eyes with Basic Black Marker.  Gle the Comb above the eyes.
5.  Put Glue on the two tabs that attach to the Front Triangle.  Repeat with the tabs for the Back Triangle.
6.  Decide what color order to put your feathers in.  Start with the center two and glue them to the back so they stick up high enough to make you happy.  Work your way outward on both sides glueing all the bottom tips on top of the first two pieces.
7.  You are done.  Admire your cute Turkey.

Happy Thanksgiving Crafting!

Curvy Turkey Box

Here is a Punch Art Curvy Keepsakes Turkey Box just in time for Thanksgiving!  It is fairly easy with a printout to use for the front of the Turkey and the wings.  The print out uses MDS Harvest of Thanks stamp brush set which is enlarged to fit the size of the Curvy Keepsakes box.
Curvy Box Turkey

Printout of Turkey body and wings
Card Stock:  Whisper White
Chocolate Chip
Big Shot:  Curvy Keepsakes Box Thinlits dies #135853
Feathers Framelits Dies #135852
Other:  Fast Fuse Adhesive
Paper Snips
Bone Folder
Glue Dots

1.  Cut your Chocolate Chip card stock in half:  two 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ pieces.  Make your Big Shot sandwich:  Magnetic Platform (OR Multipurpose Platform with tabs closed), cutting plate, both pieces of card stock-stacked, Curvy Keepsake Box Die, top cutting plate.  Run thought Big Shot.  Watch this VIDEO for more details on making a Basic Curvy Keepsake Box.  Fold up and close your Box.  It makes it easier to add the pieces in the correct position.
Curvy Box Turkey - Top View
2.  Print up the Turkey Body and Wings page onto Whisper White card stock or 24 pound white printer paper.  (Printer paper used here.)  Cut out the Turkey Bodies.  Lay the Curvy Box on its side so the handle is parallel to the table.  Lay one Turkey Body under the Curvy Box in the position you want it.  Draw a line where the Turkey Body meets the Curvy Box.  Fold on the line you drew.  Add a 1/4″ tab to add adhesive.  (I also cut a “V” shape in the center of the line to reduce bulk when adding the Turkey body to the Box.)  Use Tombow Glue to glue the very front part of the Turkey Body together – from the head to in front of the feet.  Add Tombow to one of Body Flaps and overlap the other Turkey Body flaps.  Add Tombow Glue to the other flap and attach it to the Box (which is now standing upright) so the Turkey feet are at least close to touching your table.  Use your Bone Folder between the Turkey Body pieces to make sure the Tombow Glue is on the Curvy Box.  Yipee!  The hard part is done!
3.  Using the scraps from your Curvy Box cut out 4 small feathers and 8 large feathers.  You can still have the card stock in two layers – so cut out 2 small feathers and 4 large feathers on the doubled card stock.  You can sponge the edges of your feathers if desired.  I forgot, but wished I would have.  Half the feathers use the front of the feather, the other half you see the back – so sponge accordingly.
4.  Use either Tombow or Glue Dots to attach the 4 small feather together in a fan shape.  Attach in the position you want on the back of the Turkey.  Add a few Dimemsionals to the back of the small feather fan.  Now attach the large feathers in a fan shape with Tombow or Glue Dots.  Attach to the small feather fan using the Dimensionals and either Glue Dots or Tombow Glue.
5.  Now cut out your Turkey wings and attach them to the sides of your Turkey Box.  Put your Turkey Box on display!

We decided this would be great to put some snacks in for late morning snack if your Thanksgiving Dinner is mid afternoon, or for later that evening when you want something to eat but not a whole meal.  You can also write names on either the bags or tags.
1.  Get out the paper bags, Baker’s Twine, and the round tags.  Choose a Pumpkin to stamp at the bottom and a sentiment to stamp on the round tag.  You can stamp on either the plain or patterned side of the tag.
2.  Stamp a Pumpkin on each bag as shown in the picture.  I used Tangerine Tango ink.
3.  Stamp the sentiment on the Round Tag.  Some liked the plain side, some liked the patterned side.  Use a Black or Brown ink.  We used “Grateful for All Things” from the For All Things stamp set.
4.  Tie a bow in each Round Tag using your Baker’s Twine.  Attach to your Bag.  I used Tombow since children are involved.
5.  You can fill with Treats later and use the long white bag closure stickers to hold the bags closed until you are ready to pass out the treats.

Name Place Cards

Thanksgiving Banner

We made this Thanksgiving Banner and Table Setting pieces at my Thanksgiving Class Saturday.  We used the Celebration Basics Kit, a couple of ribbons, and some stamps.  Today’s post covers making the banner.  Come back on Wednesday for instructions on making everything else.  It will help put you in a festive Thanksgiving mood and dress up each place at the table.  The Kit contains supplies for the Banner (15 Banner pieces) and 10 people.
Thanksgiving Banner and Table Setting

Kit:  Celebration Basics Kit  #133007
Fall Fest Photopolymer #135194  (Bundle with Framelits #137628)
For All Things w#135152  c#135155  French #136985  MDS #138114
Ink:  Tangerine Tango
Chocolate Chip OR Black StazOn OR Early Espresso
Card Stock:  Whisper White
Ribbon Choices-Choose 1 Orange, 1 Green.  Make sure each ribbon is a different width and type.  You want variety:
Two Toned Trim:  Tangerine Tango #135838 OR Old Olive #135837
Ribbon:  Mossy Meadow 3/8″ Satin Stitched #133670 OR Pear Pizzazz 3/4″ Chevron #130011 OR Pumpkin Pie 3/4″ Chevron #130015 OR Tangelo Twist 3/8″ Satin Ribbon #133669
Other:  Tombow Glue
Letter Options:  I used a retired Bigz Die set since I was out of town and my DH could find it.  🙂
~The letters “Celebrate” come already cut out in your Kit.  You can add a Banner piece at each end with Pumpkins (stamped on card stock, then cut out with the Framelits) on each end.  This is the quickest option.
~The current Alphabet Bigz Die is Perfect Print #133725 which are up to 1″ wide and 1-1/4″ tall.
~You can also use the alphabet stencils that come in the Build a Banner Kit #133507 which are 1-1/2″ wide by 2″ tall for the shorter letters (I measured the “s”) the letters are all lower case.  Use a sponge dauber and ink pad to add the letters to your banner pieces.
~You can also use an e-cutter to cut out the letters if you have one to cut out your letters.  You can use any of the MDS Alphabet stamps or punches and save them as SVG to cut them out.  OR use an alphabet set that comes with your e-cutter.
~You can use MDS Alphabet stamps or punches, print them, and hand cut them.
~You can choose a larger alphabet stamp set and stamp the letter directly onto the Banner piece or onto a background shape cut with a Framelit or large punch.

Choose a movie to watch while making these projects to help the project seem to go faster since this project involves a lot of repetition.
Note:  The Kit has 15 Banner pieces and enough of everything else for 10 people.  If you have more people coming, order a kit for every 10 people.

Thanksgiving Banner
Use the Banner Pieces and the cord from the Kit.
Choose “Thanksgiving” OR “Give Thanks”.  Choose your letters and get them ready.  Determine letter placement and if you want to add a background shape behind the letters such as one cut from a Framelit.  I cut my letters out of Whisper White card stock.
2. Choose your Pumpkin Stamp to stamps at the bottom of each Banner piece.  Choose the small leaf to stamp at the top corners of each Banner piece.  I used Tangerine Tango ink for both the leaves and the pumpkin.
3.  Now add your letters and do your stamping.  If you chose “Give Thanks” you can stamp all three Pumpkins on Whisper White card stock and cut them out with the Framelits to add to the Banner Piece in-between the words.  Use Dimensionals behind the pumpkins if desired.
4.  Line up your Banner pieces in the correct order.  Take the cord that comes in the and thread it through the holes.  Just make sure you thread each Banner the same.
5.  Now for the Ribbons.  You will cut 6″ lengths of both of your Ribbons.  (My six inch lengths had the diagonal cut on the outside of the 6 inches so my thicker ribbon is between 7-8″ total length.)
~Celebrate = cut twelve of each ribbon
~Give Thanks = cut twelve of each ribbon
~Thanksgiving = cut 13 of each ribbon
You can tie the ribbons by holding them together and tying it like it is just one ribbon, OR you can tie each ribbon on separately.  Whichever you think looks best.  I did the first option.
Tie the ribbons in a loose knot starting on the outside of the first Banner piece.  Tie ribbons between each Banner Piece and also on the outside of the last Banner piece.
6.  Figure out where you are going to hang it and how long you want it to be.  You will need at least 2″ between the outside Banner Pieces and the loop you will tie to hang it.  Tie the loop.  Even out the Banner pieces and Ribbons so they are evenly spaced.  See how you like the positioning and the way it looks hanging.  Adjust if necessary until it is how you want it.  Cut the cord.  Admire your Banner.

3.  Adhere the 4″ x 5-1/4″ embossed Soft Suede to the Chocolate Chip card base. (Hint:  Put the SNAIL on the card base so you don’t flatten out your embossing.)  Adhere the Soft Suede punched and embossed circle to the Soft Suede layer with Glue Dots in the position desired.

The Online Extravaganza Sale ends November 30th.

Here is a cute little card I made with My Digital Studio.  I made it with digital punches and Vintage Overlays for the border.

Enjoy your family and friends celebrating your Thanksgiving day!  Make sure and take a few minutes to think of all the people and things you are thankful for in your life.  I am thankful that I will be spending Thanksgiving with most of my children and their families.  I will dearly miss those who are too far away to celebrate with us here, but my thoughts will be with them!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving-Give Thanks

I really like how this card turned out.  I even used colors that I don’t use very often.  We will be making this card at my class on Friday.

How do you like my new banner and background?  I do enjoy variety!  I made them with My Digital Studio.  Quick and fun!

Here is a Thanksgiving card we made at my last class.  I love looking at Fall leaves, even though I don’t get to see very many where I live.

Stamp sentiment using Early Espresso ink in desired position on card front.
2.  Use Rock n’ Roll Technique to stamp leaves around sentiment on card front.  Rock n’ Roll Technique.  Choose 1 stamp and 2 ink colors-1 light, 1 darker.  Ink stamp with the lighter color.  Then gently roll stamp edges in the darker ink.  Stamp.
3.  Punch a 2-3/8 Scallop Circle from Always Artichoke card stock.  Lightly rub scallops on Early Espresso ink pad or sponge edges.
4.  Punch 2 1-3/4″ Scallop Circles from two patterns of Spice Cake DSP.  Cut each circle in half and rub edges on Early Espresso ink pad or sponge edges.  a.  Hold pattern 1.  Place pattern 2 over the pattern 1 piece, aligning the scallops.  Use adhesive of choice.  b.  Place 2nd pattern 1 piece over the single layer of the pattern 1 piece, align scallops. Adhere.  c.  Place last piece under one side and on top of the other side so the patterns alternate.  Adhere.

Scallop Circle Assembly

5.  Using Boho Blossoms punch, punch largest flower from Soft Suede and small flower from Pear Pizzazz.  (Note:  It will be easier if you poke a hole in the paper first, then center the hold inside the flower, then punch the flower.)  Put the brad through these flowers, then through the DSP Scallop Circle.  Put Dimensionals on the back of the DSP Scallop Circle and attach to Always Artichoke Scallop Circle.
6.  Place Dimensionals on the back of the Always Artichoke Scallop Circle, leaving the backings on.  Decide where to place it on your card front.  Tie Seam Binding Ribbon around card front:  place small piece of Crochet Trim after first part of knot, then complete knot and trim ribbon edges.  Use mini glue dots if necessary to hold the ribbons in place.
7.  Remove Dimensional backings from Scallop Circle and adhere in desired position.
8.  You now have a beautiful Fall/Thanksgiving card!
