Die Cutting & Embossing Changes

Die cutting and embossing product line changes

There are some exciting changes coming to Stampin’ Up!’s Die Cutting and Embossing Product Lines! Stampin’ Up! is now working directly with the die-cutting and embossing folder manufacturer. I am pretty excited for these new changes!!

The Big Shot will not be in the 2010-2020 Annual Catalog. Stampin’ Up! is working on this. You can continue using your Big Shot or other die cutting and embossing machine. These NEW style products will work with any machine!

DIES

A NEW style of die will be offered. Because of the change of manufacturer the dies will no longer be called Framelits, Thinlits, or Edgelits. They will just be called dies. So much simpler. See samples of the Old Style and NEW Style dies below.

The NEW dies are slightly thinner, but just as strong as the old dies. You may need to use a shim under your bottom cutting plate. A shim can be either a folded sheet of printer paper, a half sheet of cardstock, or two sheets of cardstock. If you place the shim under your cutting plate it will stay flat with the potential of using it in your crafting later.
~The adhesive holding the will be less sticky so the dies are easier to remove.
~Standardized die storage: 5″x7″ and 6″ x 5″. The envelopes will be slightly larger.

EMBOSSING FOLDERS

~The NEW 3D Embossing Folders are thinner than the Old Style Dynamic Embossing Folders. You may need to use at least one shim.
~Old Style Dynamic Embossing Folders recommended spritzing your cardstock lightly on both sides with water, then putting it in the folder and embossing.
~The NEW style 3D Embossing Folders will create a crisp impression without spritzing.
~The way the NEW folders are manufactured also gives Stampin’ Up! the option for more detailed and intricate designs in the future.

DIE AND EMBOSSING NAME CHANGES

Because they are changing manufacturers the products need to have names different than those of the previous manufacturer.

OLD-STYLE NAME NEW STYLE NAME
~Framelits, Thinlits, Edgelits are now called “Dies”.
~Textured Impressions Embossing Folders are now called “Embossing Folders”.
~Textured Impressions Dynamic Embossing Folders are now called “3D Embossing Folders”.
~Plates, platforms, etc. are now called Plates.
~Big Shot: You can use any die-cutting & embossing machine. Stampin’ Up! may offer one in the future with a different name.

There is nothing to worry about. You can use BOTH die styles of dies and embossing folders in your die-cutting and embossing machine! You may need a shim, but I know I sometimes need one now anyway.

Here is a Question and Answer Sheet if you have any more questions.
