MDS SUPPLIES:
Bday Under Construction  #133422

MDS INSTRUCTIONS:
1.  Choose Basic Gray paper for the card base
2.  Choose Whisper White paper as a page layer and crop to 4″ x 5.25″.
3.  Choose “Embellishments” and then choose “Bday Under Construction.  Choose the elements you want.  Resize them as you select each one.  They come out really big.  I chose:  Construction Vehicles 1, 2, 3, 4; and the Birthday in Progress sign.
4.  Choose “Stamps”, Designer Kits, and then finally Bday Under Construction.  I chose the construction cone stamp and colored it Only Orange.
5.  I then added a Text Box and typed in Happy Birthday to my grandson.  Then I emailed it to my daughter to show him.  He made me a digital card with PhotoShop and printed it up and mailed it to me.  My daughter is a PhotoShop genius!!

Race Car Birthday Card – Vroom! Vroom!

My grandson is getting a remote control car for his birthday so I decided to make him a Birthday Card with a Race Car on it.  It was quick and easy card.

Ink:  VersaMark

Birthday Bash Designer Series Paper #
Big Shot:  Ovals Collection Framelits #
Delicate Designs Embossing Folders #
Punches:  1″ Circle
3/4″ Circle
Other:  Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue
Stamping Sponge
Scissors

INSTRUCTIONS:
1.  Cut your Garden Green card base at 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″.  Score and fold at 4-1/4″.
2.  Cut your Birthday Bash Designer Series Paper at 4″ x 5-1/4″.  Adhere to card base.  When I am making a card for a child under 8 I always use Tombow Glue to keep it together.  I want the child to be able to hold and play with the card without it falling apart.
3.  Now to make the car body.  Cut a 1″ strip of Garden Green card stock.  Use the 3rd from the largest Oval Framelit to shape your car.  Now cut a diagonal to about 1″ from the front of the car.  Sponge around the car edges with Smoky Slate ink.  (I suppose you could just trim the 1″ strip to the design you want.  I wasn’t feeling that patient though.)
4.  Wheels and hubcaps.  Punch two 1″ Circles from Basic Black card stock.  Punch two 3/4″ Circles from Smoky Slate card stock.  Emboss your Smoky Slate hubcaps with the Snowflake design from the Delicate Designs embossing folder.  Center the hubcaps as desired in the embossing folder.  Sponge the raised designs with Smoky Slate ink.  Glue to the Wheels.  Glue wheels to car.
5.  Window.  Punch half a 1″ Circle from Vellum card stock.  Now use your 1″ Circle punch to punch a window shape using the punched half circle as the “Inside the car” part of the windshield.  Sponge around the windshield with Smoky Slate ink.  Use Tombow cover the part of the windshield that will be under the car.
6.  Glue the car to the card front.  Use only a drop of Tombow at the tip of the windshield.  Use can use lots of glue under the card stock.
7.  Stamp your sentiment in VersaMark.  Cover with Black Embossing Powder.  Remove excess embossing powder.  Melt embossing powder with Heat Tool.  Cut sentiment out with scissors.  Glue to card front.
8.  Vroom Vroom!!!  Enjoy your cute Racing Car Birthday Card.

Watermelon Hybrid Punch Art Card

I received the original Watermelon Card as a swap from Convention.  As usual I made a few changes.  The most notable being the stamp set and Designer Series Paper.  I did not have the Kind and Cozy Stamp set and I had run out of the Gingham Garden Designer Series Paper AND my class was the next day.  So I downloaded the digital versions and printed them out!  You cannot tell the difference!  All my customers were impressed when I compared the “REAL” Gingham Garden scrap with the printed Gingham Garden.  So if you are in a hurry and can’t wait for it to be delivered, Download the My Digital Studio version!

3.  Adhere your embossed So Saffron card stock to your card front as shown using Tombow Glue.
4.  Punch three Cupcake tops using the Build a Cupcake Punch and your 1-1/2″ strip of Whisper White card stock.  Adhere in desired positions with Tombow Glue.
5.  Balloon.  Punch a 1-3/4″ Circle and a Large Oval from your embossed Crisp Cantaloupe strip of card stock.  Sponge using Crisp Cantaloupe ink and a 1/6 wedge of Stamping Sponge.  (Some people cut their sponges into 8 pieces.  I prefer cutting mine into 6 pieces.  Choose the size you like best.)  Sponge more ink around the edges.  Sponge enough ink on the rest of the circle and oval to highlight the embossed design.  Layer the Oval onto the Circle with Dimensionals.  Set Balloon aside while you make the Basket.
6.  Balloon Basket.  Stamp desired Cupcake bottom in Baked Brown Sugar ink on your 1″ Baked Brown Sugar card stock strip.  Punch out with the Build a Cupcake Punch.
7.  Balloon Assembly.  Lay Basket stamped side down.  Lay Balloon front side down.  Put Glue Dots on the Basket corners along the zig-zag edge.  Put Glue Dots on the back of the Balloon on either side of where the Oval Punch is on the front side.  Place one 1-1/2″ piece of your Baker’s Twine starting on the Balloon and going on to the Basket leaving the desired length showing.  I left just over 1/4″ showing.  Repeat with the second piece of Baker’s Twine.  You can now put Dimensionals on the back of the Balloon, making sure to cover the Glue Dots and Baker’s Twine ends.  I just used Glue Dots on my Basket, making sure to cover the Glue Dot and Baker’s Twine Ends OR you can just add a Dimensional.  Adhere in desired position leaving room for the Word Window Sentiment.
8.  Stamp the Happy Birthday from Create a Cupcake stamp set (or use Teeny Tiny Wishes) in Baked Brown Sugar Ink on Whisper White card stock.  Punch out with the Word Window Punch.  Adhere with SNAIL or Tombow Glue.
9.  Admire your fun Hot Air Balloon card!

Happy Stamping and Punching!

MDS Back to School Backpack & MDS Downloads for August 6, 2013

There is a FREE MDS Backpack download.  I decided to make one for my grandson’s first day of Kindergarten.  I did change the Patterned Paper  I printed it on my home printer on Whisper White card stock.  I think it turned out pretty cute!

STAMPIN’ UP! SUPPLIES
Whisper White card stock
Sticky Strip
Washi Tape of your choice

DESIGN & ASSEMBLY TIPS:
~Most pieces are punches.  Use the “Paper Fill” or “Color Fill” options to change the look.
~You can easily resize the elements using the gray blocks.
~ Replace “For You” and add your child’s name with text.
~I haven’t figured out how to get stripes to go the long way on the Backpack sides.
~The large piece is the main backpack and has a bottom flap so make sure all items are facing the correct direction.  The long flat side is the top.  The front panel is the one with the flap.  The back panel will be covered up with the long piece on the second page.
~Print one off on regular printer paper to see if you need to make any adjustments.  I made a couple of small adjustments to the ends.  Pay attention to where the fold lines are.
~Score the fold lines before you cut out the pieces.  I found it easier to use the scoring blade on my Paper Trimmer.  I also found it easier to cut out with scissors.
~Use Sticky Strip on the tabs and backpack straps to hold it together.
~I scored 1-1/2″ on each end of the backpack straps.  Adhere the top part of the flaps first, then the lower straps.
~The shape with tabs on the second page is the front pocket for the backpack.  The little square above it is the little note card that goes inside the pocket.  Score all the double score lines.  Place Sticky Strip on the tabs (side & bottom) and around all four edges of the other part including the next to the score line.  Adhere the tabs to form the pocket, then adhere the pocket to the lower backpack front.
~I wrote a little note on the square.  I made a pull tab with Washi Tape so he could pull out the note.
~You can use Velcro to close the backpack if desired.  I didn’t.
~Fill with a treat.  I used a small package or Ritz Bits crackers with Cheese.

2-4-6-8 Bermuda Bay Box

This fun little 2-4-6-8 Box seems to have been around for quite some time but this is the first one I have made.  It is quick and easy even for beginners!  Make one today.  It will take you less than 10 minutes to put together.  Figuring out what colors and card stock to use is another story.  Wink

2-4-6-8 Box

SUPPLIES:
Stamps:  Flower Shop  w#130939  c#130942  (Bundle with Punch  w#130727  c#132726)
Label Love w#130619  c#130622  (Bundle w#132723  c#132722)
Card Stock:  Bermuda Bay
Whisper White
Ink:  Bermuda Bay
Punch:  Artisan Label #130920  (Included in Label Love Bundle above)
Other:  Coastal Cabana Trim #130024
Simply Scored Tool #122334  OR Paper Trimmer with Scoring Blade/Bone Folder
Sticky Strip
Tombow Multipurpose Liquid  Glue
Bone Folder

INSTRUCTIONS:
1.  Cut your box at 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″.  Yes, you can get TWO boxes from ONE Sheet of card stock!
2. Score as shown on Template.
2-4-6-8 Box Template3.  Stamp either randomly or in a pattern, depending on the look you want.  I stamped the image on the Front Panel and Back Panels in the positions I wanted and stamped the rest randomly.  I did stamp the bottom flaps also.
4.  Now fold on all the score lines.  Cut the bottom flaps up to the 2″ Score Line as shown.  Completely cut off the little rectangle in the Bottom Flap area under the Tab.
5.  Place Sticky Strip on the Tab next to the fold line, and along the top of the box so it touches the Tab Sticky Strip, but doesn’t overlap it.  Remove the Red Backing along the top.  Cut 8-1/4 inches of Coastal Cabana Stretch Trim.  Adhere it to the Sticky Strip without stretching it.  Leave the extra on for now.
6.  Remove the Sticky Strip backing from the Tab.  Fold the Back Panel on top of the rest of the box (stamped side showing).  Now fold the opposite end over.  It should lay over the Sticky Strip and the box will align properly.  You can cut off the excess Trim or Ribbon now.
7.  Now for the bottom flaps.  Fold in one of the side flaps to start your box bottom.  Put Tombow Glue around the edges.  Fold over the other side flap.  Now fold down the back flap and put glue around the edges.  Fold the Front Flap down now.  Turn the box right side up.  Use your Bone Folder along the box bottom to secure your Glue.
8.  Stamp a sentiment from the Label Love stamp set in Bermuda Bay ink on to Whisper White card stock.  Punch it out with the Artisan Label Punch.  Adhere to the front of your box with either Dimensionals or Glue.
9.  What a fun little box to keep on your desk filled with treats or pens.  Or put a gift in and give it to someone special!

Happy Stamping & Box Making!

INSTRUCTIONS:
1.  Cut your Very Vanilla card base at 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″  Score and fold at 4-1/4″.
2.  Cut your Modern Medley Designer Series Paper at 2″ x 5-1/2″  Adhere to card front about 1/4″ from the bottom.
3.  Cut your 7/16″ Trim at 5-1/2″.  Adhere above Modern Medley DSP with SNAIL.
4.  Stamp the Four Frames and desired Teeny Tiny Wishes sentiment in StayzOn Black.  Puch out with Decorative Label Punch.  Sponge around the edges using Crisp Cantaloupe ink.  Place Dimensionals on the back.  Set aside.
5.  Punch seven Artisan Labels from Crisp Cantaloupe card stock.  Sponge the edges with Calypso Coral ink if desired.  Cut six Labels in half through the smooth center.  Cut from each decorative edge to the center to form a triangle.  This will form one petal.  Use your bone folder to curl each petal.  Use your bone folder to slightly curl the edges of the whole Artisan Lable piece.  This will form your flower base.  Place a curled petal along one edge of the flower base and another just opposite.  Adhere all Petals with a Glue Dot.  Now place two petals going the other direction on top of the first layer of petals.  The next layer will go the same direction as the first layer.  You can trim the center portions if desired.  Continue placing petals until you have just one left.  Make small cuts along the top edge.  Roll it up slightly and attach to center of top petals with a glue dot.  Fluff flower if desired.
6.  Place sentiment label and flower in desired positions.  Adhere label with Dimensionals.  Adhere flower with either Glue Dots or a Demensional.
7.  Place Candy Dots in the top two corners of card.
8.  Hand deliver this card or put it in a package so it won’t get smashed.

I will have a new service available on August 1st.  More details coming soon.

Stampin’ Up! 2013 Convention

Stampin' Up 2013 ConventionI just returned from the Stampin’ Up! Convention.  This year’s theme was “Be The Difference“.  This Convention was quite a bit different than last year’s.  There were 5800 people there including Demonstrators from Australia, New Zealand, and Europe.

This was my 5th Anniversary as a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator and the 2nd Convention I have attended.
Me by the Stampin' Up! Rock

I came home with 6 Stamp sets, a set of Framelits, the Tag a Bag Gift Boxes, and 1 Goodie Kit from the Holiday Catalog.  There were also came home with the supplies for 6 Make & Takes.  I did finish one there so I just have 5 to finish this week.  I will be posting them as I complete them.  There were also 25 project demonstrations in the General Sessions.

It was a great learning experience teaching us different ways to run our business and be successful.  There was also a Service Project to make Birthday Kits for children who are in the Primary Children’s Hospital on their birthday.  We also set a Guiness World Record of the most Handmade Cards sent from the same place in a 3 hour period.  There were two officials from Guiness World Records there to verify that each card was handmade, was written inside, and had an addressed envelope with postage.  I don’t remember if they ever told us how many cards were mailed.  I will have to find out.

We also had a visit from Ronald McDonald.  Stampin’ Up! has a special stamp set each year (Tag It) and donates $3 from each stamp set sold to the Ronald McDonald House Charities which house families of seriously ill children when they need to be in the hospital.  We stayed in one when my son had heart surgery.  It was really great to have a home-like atmosphere to go to at the end of the day.  Stampin’ Up! also donates to many other good causes each year.
Stampin' Up! 2013 Convention. CEO Shelli Gardner with Ronald McDonald

There were many display boards with cards and other paper crafting projects.  There were also some 3D Projects displayed.  There was a section for each suite in the Holiday Catalog so I now have lots of ideas for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas projects.
Stampin' Up! 2013 Convention Display Boards: Inspire Create Share

There was a Product Center where some of the new products from the Annual and Holiday Catalogs were demonstrated and we learned how to use them.  I am SO EXCITED for the Holiday Catalog to go live on August 1st!  August 1st is also the day when the Holiday Catalog becomes interactive.  There are little red boxes with and “!”.  They work with your Smart Phone like a QR code.  There is an app called Layars to scan the little red box next to an item and a short video will  play.  You can also use the interactive feature on your computer by going to http://stampinup.com/showmehow.
A few NEW Products were announced.  Undefined is a stamp carving kit so you can make your own stamps.  It is available now.

Coming Soon:  Card Thinlits in Circle and Label versions.  There will also be an Envelope maker.  I cannot remember the name of it, but it looks FUN and easy to use.

Do you want to join in the fun next July?  Contact me about joining My Creative Corner Crafters!

Playing with MDS and MDS Downloads for July 23, 2013

I gave my 6-year old granddaughter My Digital Studio for her birthday last month.  I was visiting her this past week so we played with it a bit and I gave her some basic instructions on how to use it again.  She had a lot of fun and made a tag (both sides) and a card (she did two pages and wants to make the other two.)  We had a lot of fun!  Give MDS a Test Drive with the downloadable 30-Day FREE Trial.  This way you can play with it and find out how easy it is to use.

I do have some basic videos, although I do need to update the first one as there were some major changes made recently.

Glass of Lemonade Card

A customer requested that we make a lemonade card for Stamp Class.  I remember seeing this video a while back.  I used a few different things, as usual, but I think it turned out really cute.
Glass of Lemonade Card

SUPPLIES:
Stamps:  Petite Pairs w#128706  c#122497
Ink:  Daffodil Delight
Black StayzOn
Card Stock:  Crisp Cantaloupe
White Vellum  #101856
Quatrefancy Designer Series Paper #130141
larger scrap to trace glass onto
Punch:  1″ Circle
Large Oval  #119855
Other:  SNAIL
Simply Scored
Sticky Strip
Stamping Sponge or Sponge Dauber
Two Way Glue Pen
Dazzling Diamonds Glitter
Plastic Straw with flexible bending part (from your local store)
Scissors
Plastic 8 ounce glass to trace to make your pattern (from your local store or picnic supply stash)

INSTRUCTIONS:
1.  Cut your Crisp Cantaloupe card stock at 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″.  Score and fold at 4-1/4″.
2.  Cut your Quatrefancy DSP at 4″ x 5-1/4″.  Adhere to card front.
3.  Trace around your plastic glass onto a scrap of card stock.  Mine is 3-5/8″ tall.  I did have to trim it down.  Cut it out, straightening out the lines as you go.  Use this pattern to cut out your Glass from Vellum.
4.  Score 1/4″ along each tall side of your Glass.  This side will be the “Front or Outside” of your Glass.  Place Sticky Strip along the scored areas.  Leave the red backing on until later.
5.  Use your Sponge or Sponge Dauber to color the inside of your Glass with Daffodil Delight ink.
6.  Run a strip of Two-Way Glue along the top of your Glass.  Make sure it is smooth.  Now put Dazzling Diamonds Glitter over the Two Way Glue.  Flick off the excess and let dry for a minute or two.
7.  Remove the Red backing from one piece of the Sticky Strip.  Make sure the “Bottom” of your Glass is straight and adhere the one side to the card front.  DON’T press the Sticky Strip down firmly yet as you might want to move it.  Now remove the red backing from the  other piece of Sticky Strip.  Round the Glass and gently place the Sticky Strip on the card front.  Adjust if necessary.  Use your Bone Folder to make sure the Sticky Strip is firmly attached.  Whew!  The hard part is done!
8.  Place your straw into the glass to determine how much you need to cut off the straw bottom.  Now do the same for the straw top.  Use 2 Glue Dots to adhere it in the desired position in your Glass.
9.  Punch a 1″ Circle of a scrap of yellow Quatrefancy DSP.  Cut a line up to the Center of the circle.  Put your “Lemon” on your Glass and decide where to place your Glue Dots to attach it to your Glass.

You can get most of the supplies to make this card at My Online Store.

Happy Summer!
