SUPPLIES:
Card Stock: Pacific Point
Whisper White
Big Shot: Party Pup-Up Thinlits #140620 (Bundle with Party with Cake stamp set Wood #140815, Clear #140814)
Precision Base Plate #139684
Big Shot Die Brush #
Adhesive: SNAIL OR Tombow Glue
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Cut your Pacific Point card base at 4-1/4″ x 11″. SCORE and Fold at 5-1/2″.
2. Cut your Whisper White card center at 4″ x 10-1/2″. SCORE and fold at 5-1/4″.
3a. Now pull out your Big Shot. These pieces both cut better if you use the Precision Base Plate and a flat top cutting pad. You will notice both Thinlits have triangle-like points on the top and bottom in the center. You are to align these up with the fold line to get the Pop-Up in the center.
~Choose which one will be flat on the front and which will be the Pop-Up on the inside of your card.
3b. Now that you have decided which Thinlit to use flat on your card front, and to Pop-Up inside your card, you can cut. Look for a video demonstrating this on Friday, January 15, 2016.
Flat
~Take note that the sides of the Hip Hip Hooray only make a score line on the sides. If you want it flat on the card front, just cut along the score lines on each side.
~The 3 thin lines on the sides of the Happy Birthday also have score lines at the end of the Thinlit. If you want the Happy Birthday to lay flat, just cut off the thin lines next to the letters on each side. You can color The candles, letters, and cake stand with Markers if you want.
~Use the Big Shot Die Brush to help you get out all the small parts quickly. You can also run your Bone Folder between the card stock and Thinlit to help finish getting the pieces out.
~You can save the curly pieces from the Hip Hip Hooray Thinlit to glue onto the front of your card using the Fine Tip Glue Pen. I didn’t think of it until I had thrown my pieces away.
Pop-Up
Place your card stock and Thinlit on your Precision Base Plate. Line up the Triangle Points on the top and bottom of the Thinlit with the fold line on the Whisper White 4″ x 1-1/2″ card inside. Center it on the top and bottom with the Triangle points still on the fold line. The top point on the Happy Birthday is between two candles. Once everything is lined up and centered the way you want it, put on the top cutting plate and run through your Big Shot. Once through usually does it with my Big Shots.
4. Fold the inside of your card in half. Now push the Pop-Up in the opposite direction so it will stick out from the center when opened. Fold your card inside flat and rub with your Bone Folder so all the folds are well creased in the direction you want them.
5a. Now it is time to attach the card inside to the card base. With your card inside still folded in half, put SNAIL on the side that will be attached to your card base. DO NOT put ANY adhesive on the part you want to Pop-Up!!!! This is also why we are using SNAIL instead of Tombow.
5b. Put your folded card inside fold line along the card base fold line, making sure the card inside is centered along the top and bottom of the card base. Rub to attach the SNAIL.
5c. Now lay your card base flat. Put your Bond Folder under the Pop-Up and attach the other half of your card inside flat to your card base. Fold your card in half with your Pop-Up still pointing out and flatten it out well with your Bone Folder. This will get rid of any lumps or bulges that may have formed under the adhesive.
6. Stamp or write on the inside if desired.
7. Attach your Flat cut out to the Front. Attach the curly pieces too if you want. You now have a fun Pop-Up Birthday Card!
