Blossom Petals Flower Card

I saw a card like this on Pinterest and decided to give it a try.  I made it for my Daughter-in-law’s birthday.  This would also make a nice Mother’s Day card.  We have just 10 days until Mother’s Day.

This came together quite easily, though I didn’t manage to get the same dimensions as the original card.  This is one reason why I try to at least give the paper sizes when a post a project.

DIRECTIONS:
1.  Cut Island Indigo card base:  5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″.
2.  Cut Pool Party Frame which is 1/2″ wide.  outside measurements: 4″ x 5-1/4″.  Inside measurements: 3″ x 4-1/4″.  Use Big Shot and Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.  Add Dimensionals to the back and center it onto the card base.
3.  Cut Whisper White 2-3/4″ x 4″.  Run through Big Shot using Square Lattice embossing folder.
4.  Cut two 2-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ pieces of Pool Party card stock.  Score at 1/2″, 1-1/2″, 2-1/2″, 3-1/2″, 4-1/2″.  Punch 14 of the long thin petals from Pool Party card stock using the Blossom Petals builder punch and having the score line run down the center of each petal.  Punch 5 Wild Wasabi small thin petals using the Blossom Petals Builder punch.
5.  Slightly curl each Pool Party petal with the narrow paint brush handle.
6.  Flower Assembly.  Note:  Use Mini Glue Dots to attach petals and leaves.  The lower layer of petals curve upwards.  The top layer of petals curve toward the lower petals.
6a.  Lower Petals Layer.  Find the center of the bottom of the Whisper White textured card stock.  Place your first two petals in a line parallel to the bottom of the card stock and about 1/2″ above the lower edge.  Have the petal tips touch in the center.  You might want to lay out the lower layer of petals without glue dots to see how you want them placed.  I used 7 petals for each layer.  You may use more or less.  Remember to have these petals curl up towards you.
6b.  Top Petals Layer.  Try to alternate where these petal tips lay in relation to the lower petals.  Worry about the top petal position.  They may overlap some at the bottom.  Remember to let these petal curl in towards the lower layer of petals.
6c.  Green Petals & Stem.  Cut a 1/4″ strip of Wild Wasabi for your stem and place it slightly under the Pool Party petals.   Now place your Wild Wasabi petals so the part towards the center of the flower covers the Pool Party Petal.  Start at one side and layer each petal as evenly as possible so the last petal covers the center part and edge of the Pool Party petal.  Whew!  The flower is now assembled!
7.  Embellish.  Wrap your ribbon around four fingers as many times as desired.  Open the brad tabs and stuff the ribbon as close to the brad as you can.  Squeeze the brad tabs back together.   Us the Paper Piercing Tool to  make a hole in the lower part of the stem.  Insert your brad and flatten out the tabs.  Trim ribbon ends if desired.  Attach the Whisper White panel with you flower to the center of the Pool Party Frame.  (I put glue dots on the back of the Textured Whisper White.)  Add rhinestones as desired.
8.  Admire your beautiful card!
