Big Shot Tips and Materials List

We all know we can cut paper and card stock using our Big Shot.  Did you know that you can also cut many other materials with your Bigz and Originals Dies?  If you need a break from papercrafting or you are in the mood to experiment with something new, just turn to your Big Shot and your favorite Bigz and Originals Dies!  Here is a list from Stampin’ Up! of 55 different materials (13 different papers) to use with your Big Shot and your Bigz and Originals Dies.  I have also used felt.  Look at page 216 in your 2011-2012 catalog for materials sold by Stampin’ Up! to use with your Big Shot or for general crafting purposes!  Remember to only use one layer of card stock and Designer Series Papers with ALL Sizzlits, Embosslits, Framelits, Edgelits, and the thin Clearlits dies!!!!  You might damage or break them if used with thicker materials OR they won’t cut properly.

When using Bigz and Originals Dies without Score lines, you can cut multiple layers at one time.  I have tested this with papers and fabric.  You still need to be able to fit it through your Big Shot without it being so thick as to break your Big Shot or damage your die.  I have damaged a Letterpress Plate by running it through on the wrong tab.  I have used the cardboard that comes with the Bigz and Originals Dies underneath the die so it cuts better.  I have done this with the Flower Folds die when cutting aluminum flashing when making Tea Light Holders and with the Rosette die so the score lines are better defined and easier to fold.  You can also use one or more layers of card stock as shims.

Only use one layer of any material if the die has score lines.  I have found that if you use more than one layer, the score lines cut instead of score.
