It has been a while since I shared a My Digital Studio Technique. This technique gives you the look of using an embossing folder. It changes the Drop Shadows and uses an overlay stamp. Play around with this technique to get the look you want. I will give you the exact Drop Shadows I used for each element in this card as there are a variety. The instructions will tell you exactly what was done to make the card shown.
INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Choose Tempting Turquoise Textured card stock to cover the card base. 2. Now to get the Embossing Folder look. Now Choose the Quatrefoil Decorative Overlay stamp. Change the color to Tempting Turquoise. The Drop Shadow is 50% Opacity and Blur 0. You can play around a bit here to get the look you want. 3. Now choose the Delicate Adornments Lace. You will need to move it over until you can see the end Gray boxes. Make it smaller by dragging one of the corner gray boxes until the lace is as narrow as you want it. Position it as desired. The Drop Shadow is 70% Opacity and Blur of 4. 4. Now for the Paper Daisies. Choose the 3 largest and layer them starting with the largest, medium, and then second to the smallest. Select all three so you just have recolor and do the Drop Shadow once. Hold down your Shift Key and select the smallest flower, then the medium flower, then the large flower. Now let go of your Shift Key. Recolor them Melon Mambo and use a Drop Shadow of 73% Opacity and Blur of 11. Since you left all three selected this will work for all three Daisies. 5. Choose the Antique Brad and place it in the center of your Daisies. Choose a Drop Shadow of 75% Opacity and the Blur is 3. 6. Now choose the Tag. The Melon Mambo one is the original size. The Whisper White was adjusted two ways. First by dragging a corner Gray Box, then by dragging the center Gray box on the bottom. This helped me get it the size I wanted with equal parts of the Melon Mambo tag showing. Select both Tags by holding down your Shift Key to select the largest first, then the smaller one. The Drop Shadow is my normal 75% Opacity and Medium Blur for both tags. 7. Now stamp the Happy Birthday and resize it and put it on the Whisper White Tag. Change the Color to Tempting Turquoise. Use a Drop Shadow of 35% Opacity and Blur of 5. 8. Now for the Vintage Adornment Flower. Choose the Baja Breeze (bluish) one. Make is smaller by dragging a corner Gray box. Move it onto your Tag in the desired position. Use Drop Shadow of 73% Opacity and Medium Blur. 9. You now have a digital card you can email to someone and make their day happier. They will be really impressed with your card! Now you can experiment with other Digital Overlays and the Drop Shadows to come up with another card.

There are five birthdays and an anniversary in my family between now and the first of the year. Three are men’s birthdays. Here is the first one. You could also use it as a Christmas card or for any occasion by changing the sentiment. Change the “snow” to green and you can use it for another season.
INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Cut your Whisper White card base at 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″. Score and fold at 4-1/4″. 2. Tear two 5-1/2″ strips of Whisper White card stock for your “Snow”. Project Life Cards aren’t just for Memory Keeping. They also can add a focal point or bring interest to your cards. The “Printed Arrows” are a card from the Project Life Everyday Adventure Card Collection. These coordinate with the Arrows embossing folder and the What’s Up Arrow Punch. Enjoy using these cards and accessory packs for both card making and memory-keeping!
INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Cut your Tangerine Tango card base at 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″. Score and fold at 4-1/4″. Watch this Video for more details. 2. Cut your Tangerine Tango card front at 4″ x 5-1/4″. Stamp Happy Birthday or another sentiment on the bottom half with StazOn Black ink. Attach to your card front with Tombow Glue. 4. Usually I say “Stamp First, then Punch.” This time I punched first then stamped. Punch out one Whisper White and one Tangerine Tango Arrow. Stamp the Whisper White arrow with Tangelo Twist ink and the Holiday Cheer sentiment. Stamp the Tangerine Tango arrow with StazOn Black ink and the Honeycomb Hello stamp. Attach both Arrows to your card front. 5. A fun card in about 5 minutes.
I made this Birthday Card for my Grandson’s birthday and wanted to add a Bookmark as he is enjoying Chapter books lately. I went with a Star theme as I had the Champagne Glimmer Star left over from another project and wanted to use it. So choose three colors of paper and a contrasting ink and make a Bookmark card today!
INSTRUCTIONS: Note: Since this card is for a child, I used Tombow Glue to assemble the card so he can enjoy it and it will stay together. You might want to use Dimensionals under the flap and Glimmer Paper Star. 1. Cut your Wild Wasabi card base at 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″. Score and fold at 4-1/4″. Watch this video for more detailed instructions. 2. Cut the smallest Envelope Liner Framelit from Gumball Green to make your Bookmark Pouch. Line up the edges at the bottom of the flap with the cutting groove and use the Scoring Blade to score along this line so you can fold over the flap. Use your Garden Green Marker to color the edges including the folded top and flap. Glue the flap down with Tombow (or use Dimensionals). 3. Make your Bookmark. Cut two pieces of Pistachio Pudding card stock at 2″ x 4″. Stamp “Make Today ridiculously Amazing” on one, and “Happy Happy Happy Happy Birthday to You” on the other one. Use the Angled Topper Punch on the top of both of them. Glue them together. This will make a much sturdier bookmark that just using a single piece of card stock. 4. Put the Ribbon in your Bookmark. Cut three 6″ pieces of Ribbon. This Gold 1/8″ Ribbon is slippery. I inserted it in my normal way and it was coming out just laying there within 5 minutes, so I tried another tactic. I put a Glue Dot at the 3″ mark on one Ribbon and attached the next one on top. I put a Glue Dot on the 3″ mark of the second Ribbon and attached the third ribbon. I then threaded the Ribbons through the punched hole. Tie the Ribbon in place with about 6″ of Gold Baker’s Twine. You should probably tie a knot in each end as the Gold likes to separate. 5. Cut your Star from the Champagne Glimmer Paper using the 2nd and 4th Star Framelits (there are five so you can count either way). Place both Framelits on the Sparkly side of the Glimmer Paper and arrange them to make the Star the way you want it and cut them out with your Big Shot. 6. Now that you have all the pieces made you can assemble your card. Lay the Bookmark, Bookmark Pouch, and Glimmer Paper Star in the desired positions. You can use either Tombow Glue or Sticky Strip around the 3 outside edges of your Bookmark Pouch, leaving the top adhesive-free so the bookmark will slide in. Attach your Glimmer Paper Star with either Tombow Glue or Dimensionals. Slide your Bookmark in to test it. 7. Remove your Bookmark while you stamp. Now stamp on some Stars in the corners of the card front. Stamp a small sentiment in the center of your Glimmer Star. Stamp the small Star cluster in the center top of your card front. 8. Now you have given a card and a Bookmark to a Reader, which makes two gifts! 9. You can stamp Stars and Star Clusters on your envelope so the receiver knows something special is inside. If you are sending this card through the postal service (instead of hand-delivering) I would put a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ sheet of card stock on top of the card to help hold the ribbon in place after folding it on top of the bookmark.
INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Cut your Wisteria Wonder card base at 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″. Score and fold at 4-1/4″. WATCH THIS VIDEO for more details on card bases.
2. Cut your Wisteria Wonder card front at 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″. Run through your Big Shot using the Honeycomb embossing folder. Attach to your card base with Tombow Glue.
3. Cut your Adhesive or Transfer Sheet at 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″. Adhere it to your 4-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ Blackberry Bliss card stock. Run it through your Big Shot with the Hexagon Hive Thinlit. WATCH THIS VIDEO for more details on using the Hexagon Hive Thinlit. Punch out the Hexagons. Attach your Hexagon Hive to your card front in the desired position.
4. Stamp your Happy Birthday or other sentiment in Blackberry Bliss ink on Whisper White card stock. Punch out with the Word Window punch. Attach to card front with Dimensionals.
5. You can emboss your envelope flap to add an extra touch. WATCH THIS VIDEO for instructions.
My Dad’s Birthday was last week. Here is a card you can use for guys and gals of all ages depending on the Designer Series Paper you choose and whether you choose to embellish it or not. My guys like things without the sparkles and bows and most other embellishments.
INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Cut your card base at 4-1/4″ x 11″. Score and fold at 5-1/2″. Watch this Video for more details.
2. Cut your patterned Designer Series Paper at 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″. Attach to your card base.
3. Stamp your Happy Birthday on a light colored coordinating card stock in a coordinating dark ink. I used Soft Sky card stock and Night of Navy ink. Cut out with your Big Shot and the large Banner Framelit. Add Dimensionals to the back and position it on your card.
4. This is perfect for a guy. For a gal you can add some Dazzling Details to fill in the Happy and To You words. You can also add a bow or other embellishments.

Make this fun Child’s Birthday Card for an Owl Lover. Owls are quite trendy with both children and adults. This card can be given to anyone who loves Owls. This Owl Card is going to my 3 year-old grandson.
INSTRUCTIONS: Note: This card is going to a 3 year-old so I am adhering everything with Tombow Glue. You can use the adhesive of your choice.
1. Let’s put together our Owl first.
~Punch your Owl and 1-1/4″ Scallop Circle from Baked Brown Sugar card stock. Cut your Scallop Circle in half to use for the wings. Trim off the feet.
~Punch the lower part of the Owl body from Pumpkin Pie. You need just enough body to attach behind the Owl to allow the feet to stick out.
~Punch the Vest out of Gumball Green card stock. Use your Simply Scored Tool and score lines across the vest at 1/8″ intervals-every line. Glue onto Owl Body.
~Cut a small Pumpkin Pie triangle for your Owl Beak. Glue it on above the “V” in the vest.
~Punch two Whisper White eyes. I used the medium circles on the Owl Punch. Glue onto your Owl face, lapping over the Beak if necessary. Color the eyes with Black Marker so your Owl is looking in the direction you want him to.
~Now glue your wings to the back of your Owl in the desired position. (You can also wait and do this later if desired.) 2. Emboss your Designer Frame in Bermuda Bay card stock. Trim around the edges with Scissors or Paper Snips. 3. Cut a piece of Whisper White card stock at 1-7/16″ x 2″ and glue inside your Designer Frame. 4. Now let’s glue our Owl onto the Whisper White inside the Designer Frame. Add the wings now if you haven’t. You can also cut a Party Hat from the Birthday Basics Designer Series Paper for your Owl to wear. 5. Cut your Bermuda Bay card base at 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″. Score and fold at 4-1/4″. Cut your Birthday Basics Designer Series Paper (I chose the Balloon design) at 4″ x 5-1/4″. Adhere the Balloon paper to the card base. 6. Cut a strip of 1″ x 5-1/2″ of Gumball Green. Use your Fringe Scissors to cut grass leaving about 1/4″ at the bottom that is not cut. I place the tips of my scissors about 1/4″ from the bottom, then cut. Put Sticky Strip along the back of the 1/4″ uncut grass. Since this card is going to a 3 year-old, I also put a strip of Sticky Strip on the card front so the upper edge was just lower than 1″ from the bottom edge so the grass will hopefully not break off. Adhere your grass to your card front. 7. Now stamp the desired sentiment from the Itty Bitty Banners stamp set in Bermuda Bay ink on Whisper White card stock. Cut out the Banner with the large Bitty Banner Framelit. Then glue it onto a scrap of Bermuda Bay card stock and trim so there is about a 1/8″ Bermuda Bay border on your Banner. 8. Now lay your framed Owl and your Banner in the desired positions. Glue down the Frame first. Add your Baker’s Twine or Ribbon on top of your Owl’s Wing and glue it down so it goes to the back of your Banner. Glue your Banner down. Ooops! My Banner sticks off the card a little. 🙂

I am behind in posting some of my Paper Pumpkin projects. Here is one that was meant for Christmas. The other side of the big Tag says “Noel”. Since I just made these cards Saturday, I did not keep with the Christmas theme and used some of my other stamps and tools. There were plenty of Dimensionals included in the Kit for me to be my usual “Dimensional Queen” self! I will let you know above each card the extra things I used that were not in the Kit. Yes, the little stars came stitched together already. A Real Red Stampin’ Spot (1″ ink pad) came with the Kit. I did use Glue Dots to attach a few of the stars in each strand.

INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Cut your Gumball Green card base at 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″. Score and fold at 4-1/4″. 2. Cut your Whisper White card front at 4″ x 5-1/4″. Stamp the Diagonal Stripe border stamp in Gumball Green. Stamp the Polka Dot border stamp in Daffodil Delight. Stamp the stars in Daffodil Delight. Tip: To avoid stray lines when stamping (notice a couple of the stars) remember to stamp straight down then bring it straight up. If you move the stamp down slightly in any direction while it is on the card stock you will get the stray lines. I tend to do this when I am getting tired. 3. Stamp “Make a Wish” twice in Gumball Green ink on a scrap of Whisper White card stock making sure you have enough room to cut one out with a Banner Framelit. You will just be punching out the “a” from the second stamped image. 4. Cut out the Make a Wish with the desired size Banner Framelit. Cut a Daffodil Delight Banner from the next larger Banner Framelit. Cut a Daffodil Delight Banner with the Bitty Banner Framelit that will cover the Pennant under the “a”. Punch out the “a” from the second stamped image. Adhere the Bitty Banner over the stamped banner using SNAIL Adhesive. Adhere the two large Banners together with Dimensionals. Adhere the “a” with a Dimensional. Adhere this whole thing to your card front with Dimensionals. 5. Your Birthday Card is now finished and ready to give to someone special.

If you are lucky enough to still have one of these: Put in the brads and bend the tabs so the won’t show. Hold them in place with Glue Dots. Put several Glue Dots around the edge to hold the punched Birthday Cake image from step 4. Now add the Punched Birthday Cake to the Silver Embellishment trying to center it inside the opening. 5b. Card Stock Option. If you don’t have the Silver Embellishment then punch two Decorative Labels from Bermuda Bay card stock. Cut one in half lengthwise the other widthwise. Trim off the points at the end. Put SNAIL on the back of your Punched Birthday Cake. Layer the lengthwise Labels first. Add more SNAIL and add the widthwise Labels trying to keep the same amount of Bermuda Bay showing around the Birthday Cake image.
6. Place Banner and Birthday Cake image in the desired positions. I adhered the Banner with Dimensionals and the Silver embellishment with Glue Dots. If I was using Option 5b I would put Dimensionals under the Birthday Cake image and adhere the Banner flat using SNAIL. 7. Enjoy this colorful Birthday Card!
