April 16, 2013 My Digital Studio Downloads

My Digital Studio Downloads and Project IdeasHere are the newest MDS Downloads.  Beautiful Birthday, On Holiday Photobook Template, and Wonderful Mother Stamp Brush Set.  The Photos and Details are below.

Also, My Digital Studio.net has been updated with a whole new look so check it out.  There is even a whole page of the FREE Downloads.

I am in the process of making a NEW My Digital Studio video showing you how to make your own printables.  Hopefully it will be ready for next Tuesday.  Since the price of My Digital Studio has gone down it is easier to add this to your crafting tools.

My favorite way to use it:  Email a card or photo page to brighten someone’s day.  It usually takes about 5 minutes to make a card front to email.  This time includes changing my mind quite a few times until I get the look I like.  Just like card making with “Real” card stock and embellishments, but with no waste of your supplies!

Also My Digital Studio lets you use ALL the retiring and previously retired colors and you get the new colors updated for FREE.  (Usually within a few days of their release!) Here is a video from Stampin’ Up!  The newest Downloads are below the video.

Oh Whale in the Sea Card

We made this Oh Whale Card in my Stamp Class on Friday.  This is a cute Children’s Card that can be used for any occasion.  I really enjoy the coordinating Clearlit to cut out the Whale and other little things like the fish and anchor.  My grandson was over last week as I was making this card.  He stamped and die cut his Whale.  We had to put on a Googly Eye instead of just leaving the the eye white.  I have included the numbers for the items I used that are also Digital for use with My Digital Studio.
Oh Whale Children's Card

SUPPLIES:
Stamps:  Oh Whale w#129129  c#129132  Digital #131462
Ink:  Pacific Point
Gumball Green
Midnight Muse Marker to color anchor
Melon Mambo Marker to color fish
Card Stock:  Pacific Point
Bashful Blue (Retiring)
Whisper White
Sunshine and Sprinkles Designer Series Paper #126922  Digital #130670
Big Shot:  Cloudy Day Embossing Folder #127022
Happy Whale Clearlits Die #129403
Other:  Dimensionals
SNAIL
Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue
(Optional) Oh Wave! Stampin’ Around Jumbo Wheel #130105 (Need Jumbo Handle #103661)

INSTRUCTIONS:
1.  Cut your Pacific Point card base at 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″.  Score and fold at 4-1/4″.
2.  Cut your Bashful Blue card front at 4″ x 5-1/4″.  Run through your Big Shot using the Cloudy Day embossing Folder.  Adhere to your card base with either SNAIL or Tombow Glue.  If I am giving this to a child under 5-years-old I adhere everything with Tombow Glue.
3.  Cut your “Ocean Waves” Sunshine & Sprinkles paper at 2″ x 5-1/4″.  Drag the edges on your Pacific Point ink pad to add some color and contrast.  Adhere to your Bashful Blue card front.  (Note:  There is a Jumbo Wheel that has waves that you can use instead of the Sunshine & Sprinkles paper.  Children do love using wheels so they could roll out the waves for you.)
4.  Stamp your Whale in Gumball Green on Whisper White card stock.  Make sure you leave enough room around the Whale so the other images can be cut out.  Now line up your Happy Whale Clearlit over your Whale and cut it out with your Big Shot.  Save the extra die cut images you want to use.  Adhere the Whale with either Dimensionals or Tombow Glue.
5.  Stamp the desired “Water Spout” image above the Whale using Pacific Point ink.
6.
Color the die cut fish with Melon Mambo Marker (or desired color marker) and the die cut anchor with the Midnight Muse Marker.  Adhere with Tombow Glue.
7.  Admire your cute Whale card.

Happy Stamping!

Soda Pop Bottle Cap Man’s Card

We are making this fun “Man” Card today at my Stamp Class.  My grandson helped design it.  I gave him a few choices and between us we came up with this card.  The Soda Pop Tops/Bottle Caps are easy to work with and make a great “manly” embellishment.  Most guys do like “hardware” of some sort.  Except for the drying time this card is really quick to make.
Soda Pop Bottle Cap Man's Card

SUPPLIES:
Stamps:  Curly Cute w#117014  c#120510
Ink:  Early Espresso
Card Stock:  Crumb Cake
Chocolate Chip
Very Vanilla
Comfort Cafe Designer Series Paper #126898
Big Shot:  Stripes Embossing Folder #123128
Heart Framelits
Punch:  Square-any larger size to cut ends of Banner
Other:  Soda Pop Tops (Bottle Caps) #129388
Paper Trimmer
Crystal Effects #101055
SNAIL
Glue Dots
Dimensionals

INSTRUCTIONS:
1.  First we need to do our Soda Pop Tops/Bottle Cap so it can dry while we are making our card.  We will flatten it out with our Big Shot.  Don’t worry, it works great and you don’t need strong muscles to crank the handle!  They look about the same whether you put them with the flat part at the top or touching the cutting pad.  Open all the Tabs on your Big Shot’s Multipurpose Platform.  Put a cutting pad down, as usual.  Now put your Soda Pop Tops/Bottle Cap(s) on the Cutting Pad.  Put a Cutting Pad on top.  Run through your Big Shot.  It makes less cracking sounds than using Framelits.
2.  Cut a 3/4″ square of Chocolate Chip card stock.  Adhere it inside your Soda Pop Tops/Bottle Cap with Glue Dots.  I put one on each corner.  Cut a 1/2″ square of Crumb Cake card stock.  Adhere it with Glue Dots on top of the Chocolate Chip square inside the Soda Pop Tops/Bottle Caps.  Now squeeze in some Crystal Effects.  Gently swirl tip to get rid of any bubbles and to cover the whole inside of your Bottle Cap.  Set aside somewhere so it won’t get bumped.  (Optional:  you can put Glue Dots on the bottom of the Bottle Cap BEFORE you add the Crystal Effects.  Just put the Glue Dot paper over the Glue Dots so you can easily adhere it before the Crystal Effects completely dries.)
3.  Cut your Crumb Cake card base at 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″.  Score and fold at 4-1/4″.
4.  Cut your Chocolate Chip card stock at 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″.  Run through your Big Shot with the Stripes embossing folder.  Adhere to card base.  (Note:  I put SNAIL on the card base so I don’t flatten out my embossing.  It also helps to put a Glue Dot on each corner.)
5.  Use the largest smooth Heart Framelit to cut your Comfort Cafe Designer Series Paper.  I had the straight edge of the DSP at the part of the Heart Framelit just before it started to curve to make the top of the Heart.  Adhere with SNAIL.  I would recommend putting Glue Dots on the upper corners.
6.  Cut your Very Vanilla 1″ x at least 4-1/4″ for your Banner.  Stamp your sentiment in Early Espresso using the Stamp-a-ma-jig if desired.  Use your Square Punch or Hearts-a-Flutter Banner Framelit or Scissors to cut the notches from your Banner.  Adhere to card front with Dimensionals.
7.  When your Crystal Effects in your Soda Pop Tops/Bottle Cap is dry (at least an hour or two, but best left overnight to dry) adhere with Glue Dots to your Designer Series Paper.
8.  Enjoy the dimension and shine of the Crystal Effects on your Bottle Cap Card!

Happy Stamping!

My Paper Pumpkin Welcome Kit Card Samples

My Paper Pumpkin is a Monthly Craft Surprise in your mailbox!  It has everything needed to make the project(s) included except adhesive for only $19.95 plus tax.  You must sign up by the 10th of the month (TODAY) to start getting your own Monthly Craft Surprise Kit in your mailbox!

These are the cards I made with the Welcome Kit.  When you join My Paper Pumpkin you will get the Welcome Kit the first month, then you will get the Kit of the Month the next month.  You cannot catch up on missed Kits.  If you decide to upgrade or embellish your Kit, you can use your own supplies from your stash.  If you make all four cards in the Welcome Kit the same it will take you about 30 minutes.  It took me about an hour and a half to make these four cards.  Part of the time was spent thinking of how to use all the supplies in the Kit but make the cards look different.

These things are included in the Welcome Kit:  4 envelopes, 4 gray/white card bases (already scored), 4 light-colored card fronts, 1 sheet of self-adhesive die cuts, 4 buttons, 2 Clear Mount stamps, 1 Clear Mount Block D, 1 Basic Gray Stampin’ Spot ink pad (you can reink Stampin’ Spots with ink refills so you can use them for a long time.), Instructions in 4 languages with a Photo on the front.

Card 1.  Here is the card I made following the directions included in the Kit.

My Paper Pumpkin Welcome Kit-Card 1Card 2.  I used the Honeycomb Embossing Folder.  (Note:  you will have to trim either the top or bottom of the card because the embossing will distort it and make it look crooked.)  Cut the light card front paper at 2-3/8″ x 4″.   Stamp “Hey there” on part of the light colored print that is leftover.  Punch out with a Large Oval Punch.  Punch an Extra-Large Oval out of Lucky Limeade.  Adhere to card front with Dimensionals.  I also used Lucky Limeade Baker’s Twine to tie the bow in the button.  I adhered the Button with Glue Dots.
My Paper Pumpkin Welcome Kit-Card 2
Card 3.  I embossed the light card front with the Chevron embossing folder.  I also stamped the “Hey There” on part of the left over card front from Card 2 and punched it out with an Extra -Large Oval Punch.  I sponged the Oval with Lucky Limeade ink and then adhered it to the card front with Dimensionals.  I also used Lucky Limeade Baker’s Twine in the Button.
My Paper Pumpkin Welcome Kit-Card 3
Card 4.  I used the Window Frames Framelit to cut the card front this time.  Then stamped the “Hey There” directly on the Window Frame.  I also used the Lucky Limeade Baker’s Twine to tie a bow on the Button again..
My Paper Pumpkin Welcome Kit-Card 4

Now that you have some examples from the My Paper Pumpkin Welcome Kit maybe you are ready to give it a Test Drive.  Contact me and I will register you OR you can sign yourself up HERE.  Please choose me as your Demonstrator.  You can also skip a month when needed or cancel anytime.

Happy Paper Pumpkin Adventure!

Heart & Butterflies Anniversary Card

I made this card for my Daughter’s and her DH’s first Anniversary.  This card would also probably look nice White on White with just a little color on the Butterflies.  Give either one a try.  I generally use my family members’ favorite colors when I make cards for them.

My DH and I are celebrating our Anniversary today.  I will show you the Anniversary Card I made for my DH later this week.  We are watching some movies this afternoon, going out to dinner and going to a Big Band Concert that also has singers and swing dancers.  It will be a fun day!  We will also be joining my Daughter and her husband for a play sometime this month.

4.  Stamp 1 large Butterfly in Midnight Muse ink.  Stamp 1 more Butterfly in Garden Green ink.  Let air dry for a few minutes or use your Heat Tool if you aren’t feeling very patient.  I wasn’t patient and used my Heat Tool on High to dry my ink.
5.  Color the back side of your Midnight Muse Butterfly with your Bashful Blue Marker.  Color the back of your Garden Green Butterfly with your Certainly Celery Marker.  Now you can punch out your Butterflies.
6.  Cut strip of Bashful Blue card stock at 1/2″ OR 3/4″ x 5-1/2″ OR 6″.  The card has been mailed so I don’t have the actual card to give you accurate measurements.  Sorry I didn’t write them down.  Stamp your sentiment using Garden Green ink.  You can get the notches at the ends of the banner by either cutting the with scissors, using a square punch, or using the Hearts a Flutter Banner Framelit.  Adhere with Dimensionals.
7.  I wrote on the inside with a White Gel Pen.  Make sure and let the ink air dry or dry it with your Heat Tool.  I forgot on one of my Valentine’s cards and my grandson keeps asking his mother to read that side of the card too.

Flower Kraft Box: Creped Filter Paper meets Floral Frames Framelits

We made this Flower Box using the Crepe Filter Paper from the Spring 2013 Catalog and a Kraft Box.  We used the Floral Frames Framelits to cut out our flowers.  I used the largest Floral Frames Framelits.  Everyone else chose the next two smaller sizes.  We decorated the front of the box with a smaller flower die cut from the Floral Frames Framelits.   that we stamped with the flower  from the Oh Hello Stamp set.  This is a quick project!  The Flower Box  can be filled with a variety of treats or gifts.  It it is the perfect size for cookies that have been stamped with Sweetly Pressed Cookie Stamps.

Products AND want to order things from the NEW Catalog earlier than the general public…. Contact Me and I can give you the information you need to get started and become a member.  You can also click the Join My Team Tab at the top of the page.

Artistic Etchings “Chalkboard” Card

When I first saw the Chalkboard Technique I was pretty intimidated thinking it would be hard or complicated.  Let me tell you….. It is SO EASY!!!  It also requires very few supplies to make a great impression!  So give it a try and let me know if you think it is easy.  We made this card at my last Stamp Class.  It was a hit!
Artistic Etching Chalkboard Card(Note:  The Whisper White ink that is sponged on shows up a LOT MORE in the photo than in real life.)

SUPPLIES:
Stamps:  Artistic Etchings w#118517  c#120573
Seasonal Sayings
w#128006  c#128009
Card Stock:
 Cherry Cobbler
Basic Black
Ink:  VersaMark
Whisper White (optional)
Other:  White Embossing Powder #109132
Heat Tool #129053
Cherry Cobbler 1/2″ Seam Binding Ribbon #120992
Whisper White 1/4″ Stitched Grosgrain  Ribbon #126877
Hung Up Cute Clips #129389  OR Elements Cute Clips #129939
SNAIL adhesive
Stamping Sponge

INSTRUCTIONS:
1.  Cut your Cherry Cobbler card base at 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″.  Score and fold at 4-1/4″.
2.  Cut your Basic Black card stock at 4″ x 5-1/4″.
3.  Here is how you do the Chalkboard Technique.  Put a piece of printer paper on your work surface to help contain the embossing powder.  Lay your Basic Black card stock layer on top of printer paper.  Stamp Atristic Etchings  and Seasonal Sayings images in the desired position using VersaMark ink.  Yes you can stamp all of the images at once.  Then dump your white embossing powder on top of you inked card stock, making sure to cover all the stamped images.  Pour excess embossing powder back into container.  Flick the back of your card stock to get the last bit of excess embossing off your card stock.  Use your Heat Tool on high to melt the embossing powder, being careful not to burn your fingers.  TaDa!  You now have your basic Chalkboard images.
4.  Cut the tips of your ribbons into a “V” by folding your ribbon in half and cutting towards the bottom edge.  Adhere to desired place on card.  I ran SNAIL along the back of the ribbons to hold them in place.  Adhere the part of the ribbon that hangs over to the back of the Basic Black layer.  Add the desired clip.
5.  Adhere your Basic Black layer to your Cherry Cobbler card base with SNAIL.
6.  If you want the “Chalkboard Dust” effect:  Get a light layer of Whisper White Craft ink onto your stamping sponge and swipe at your “Chalkboard” until you get the desired effect.
7.  Admire your trendy card!

Happy Stamping!

Easter Blessings and Secret Garden

The Easter Blessings stamp is paired with the Secret Garden Bundle and the Sunshine and Sprinkles Designer Series Paper to make a bright Easter Card.  We made this card at my March Stamp Class.  Several people used different sentiments.  All the cards were beautiful, but I did forget to take pictures.  The Sunshine & Sprinkles Designer Series Paper is becoming one of my favorites!  It works well with many different stamp sets and for many occasions-serious, fun, and whimsical.

Bunny and Bird Punch Art

I wanted to make the Easter Bunny Card with my grandson when he came over last Friday.  He wanted the WHOLE Bunny not just the part of the head and ears.  So I adapted, nice grandmother that I am.  I had seen several Punch Art Bunnies so I guessed at what I had seen.  He really wanted to make a Bunny that turned into a Bird.  I told him I didn’t know how to do that, but we could make a Bunny and a Bird.  He happily chose the colors from my scraps and we punched away.  He wanted two eyes on the Bird so the Bird would be able to see so that is why the Bird’s face is facing forward.
Bunny and Bird Punch Art

SUPPLIES:
Scraps of card stock.  He chose Raspberry Ripple for the Bunny and Pink Pirouette for the Bird.  I chose Whisper White for my Bunny.  He used the Pink Pirouette for the Bird.
Punches:  1″ Circle for heads #119868
Extra Large Oval for bodies #119859
Large Oval for ears, the Red Bunny’s Feet, and the bird wing #119855
Retired Medium Oval for inside Bunny Ears and White Bunny Feet
Word Window for Bunny Arms and Bird legs and feet #119857
Scallop Square for Bird tail  #119884
Other:  Silicone Craft Sheet  #127853 (really nice to keep the glue in one spot when letting children glue!!!)
Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue
Googlie Eyes from the Holiday catalog or just draw them on with a Marker
Basic Black Marker (or other colors) as desired for drawing on faces and other details.

INSTRUCTIONS:
Bunny

1.  Choose the color card stock you want for the Bunny Body and the inside of the Bunny ears.
2.  Bunny Body.  Punch a 1″ circle for the head, two Large Ovals for the ears, 1 Extra Large Oval for the body, two Word Windows for the arms, and two bunny feet in the desired size
3.  Inside Bunny Ears.  Punch or cut two ovals.
4.  Assembly.  Glue the Inside Bunny Ears to the Bunny Ears pieces.  Hold a few seconds to let them adhere.  Now decide where you want to put the ears on the head.  Place a small amount of Tombow Glue on the part of the Bunny Ear you want to go behind the Bunny Head.  Adhere ears.
5.  Adhere Bunny Head on top of Extra Large Oval Body in the desired position.  Add Word Window punches in the desired positions for the arms.
6.  Add the Bunny Feet in the desired positions, either in front of the Bunny Body or behind, whichever you like best.
7.  Now add the Googlie Eyes to  you Bunny Face.  If you don’t have Googlie Eyes you can just draw circles for the eyes.  Draw on the Nose, Mouth, Whiskers, and Whisker Dots and any other features desired.  My grandson drew eyebrows.
8.  You can now adhere your Bunny to something or just let the child play with it.  The arms will get bent, but the rest holds up pretty well to being played with by a four-year-old.

Bird
1.  Punch out of the desired card stock color(s):  1″ Circle for Head, Extra Large Oval for body, Large Oval for Wing, part of a Scallop Square for tail, and two Word Windows for legs and feet.
2.  Glue the Head and Body in desired positions.  Decide how much of the Scallop Square you want showing for the tail.  Glue on the Tail and trim to get the desired look.  Glue on the wing.
3.  Face.  Decide how you want the face to look.  Attach the Googlie Eye(s).  Draw on a beak or use a small scrap of card stock to make a beak.  Make sure there is enough to glue it on.  Do any drawing or coloring with Markers to get the desired look.
4.  Add feet and legs if desired.  I cut each Word Window in half (yes, they were unequal halves).  Glue two on for the legs making sure the bottoms are level.  Cut little toes from the smaller parts of the Word Windows and glue on behind the legs.  Hold for several seconds to let them adhere.  Trim as desired.
5.  Adhere to a card if desired or just let the child play with it.  This held up really well when played with.

Happy Punching!

Easter Bunny Card

This cute Bunny card was one of the Make & Takes at our March downline meeting.  It uses the new Oval Collection Framelits.  This is a fun little Easter or Spring card.  It was fairly simple to make and all of our Bunnies turned out cute.

INSTRUCTIONS:
1.  Cut your Daffodil Delight card base at 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″.  Score and fold at 4-1/4″.   Stam your card front with the Distressed Dots and the Daffodil Delight Ink.  I have found the easiest way to get a good impression with the larger stamps is to ink it up well, then lay the stamp on the table with the rubber side up.  Place your card stock onto the stamp carefully.  Then hold your card stock with a finger or two and rub a clear mount block or the wood block over the card stock, switching where you are holding the card stock, so all parts of the card get rubbed with the block.
2.  Now get out your Big Shot and Oval Framelits.  Ears.  Cut two of the smallest ovals out of Marina Mist.  Cut two of the next larger size of ovals out of Whisper White.  Skip an oval and use the fourth oval from the center to cut the head.
3.  Glue your Ear Parts together with the Marina Mist on top of the Whisper White.  Run them through your Big Shot with the Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder.
4.  Angle the Largest Oval for the Bunny Head.  You might also want to lay the ears in position too to make sure that is the angle you want both the head and the ears to be.  Glue down the Head and the ears in the desired positions.
5.  Punch two Basic Black Itty Bitty circles for the eyes.  Punch a Small Heart for the Nose.  Glue the eyes and nose in the desired positions.  Draw whiskers, whisker dots and the Bunny mouth with your Basic Black Marker.  Your Bunny is finished.
6.  Punch a Scallop Oval out of Marina Mist card stock.  Stamp Happy Easter in Marina Mist on Whisper White card stock.  Punch with the Large Oval punch.  Adhere Happy Easter to to the Scallop Oval with Dimensionals.  Adhere this to your card base with Dimensionals.
7.  Admire your cute Bunny Card!
