Oliver’s Dinosaur Birthday Card

I made this Dinosaur Birthday Card for my Grandson who is turning 6 today.  He loved stamping his own Dinosaur card, so I used the rest of the Dinosaurs on his card and envelope.  Sorry, I forgot to take a picture of the envelope.
Dinosaur Birthday CardSUPPLIES:
Stamps:  No Bones About It  Photopolymer #138756
Ink combinations for Dinosaur & Bones:
Mint Macaron & Marina Mist ink
Pear Pizzazz & Mossy Meadow ink
Real Red ink for party hats
Memento Black ink
Basic Black Marker to make window bubbles
Card Stock:  Whisper White
Wild Wasabi card base
Pear Pizzazz grass
Other:  Tear & Tape adhesive #138995
Tombow Glue
Fringe Scissors #133325
Scissors

INSTRUCTIONS:
1.  Cut your Wild Wasabi card base at 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″.  Score and Fold at 4-1/4″.
2.  Cut your Whisper White at 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″.
3.  Stamp your first Dinosaur, the Stegosaurus, in Mint Macaron for the body and Marina Mist for the bones.
4.  Stamp your second Dinosaur, the T-Rex, in Pear Pizzazz for the body and Mossy Meadow for the bones.  Next time I will probably choose Old Olive for the bones.
5.  Stamp a Real Red party hat on both Dinosaur heads.
6.  Cut around the top of the Dinosaurs.
7.  Stamp your sentiments in Memento Black ink.  Use your Basic Black Marker to draw Word Bubbles around the sentiments.  Pay attention to which way you want the small part to point.  Cut these out with your scissors.
8.  Cut a strip of Pear Pizzazz card stock for your grass.  I think mine was 3/4″ x 5-1/2″.  Put a strip of Tear & Tape adhesive along on of the long edges.  Use your Fringe Scissors to cut down to the Tear & Tape.
9.  Decide where you want everything.  Attach the Dinosaurs and sentiments with Tombow Glue.  Attach the Grass with the Tear & Tape.
10.  You now have a card most children will love!  (My girls liked Dinosaurs as much as my boys.  Same with my oldest granddaughter.)
11.  Stamp some dinosaurs on the envelope.  I stamped the brontosaurus in Pear Pizzazz on the front, and the Rhino looking one on the back.  I also stamped one of the sentiments on the flap.  I know he will be excited to see this envelope!

Sprinkles of Life Cupcake Birthday Card

This Birthday Card uses the Cherry On Top paper and the Sprinkles of Life stamp set and coordinating Tree Builder Punch.  Choose your colors.  This paper coordinates with Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, Cucumber Crush, Hello Honey, Pool Party, Tip Top Taupe, Watermelon Wonder, and Whisper White.  Choose colors that Birthday Boy or Girl will like.  Lots of combinations are available.
Sprinkles of Life Cupcake Birthday CardSUPPLIES:
Stamps:  Sprinkles of Life Photopolymer #139971, French #140038
Ink:  Watermelon Wonder (or color of your choice)
Markers:  2015-2017 In Color Markers #138333
Card Stock:  Whisper White
Watermelon Wonder
Cherry On Top Designer Series Paper Stack (6″ x 6″) #138443
Punches:  Tree Builder #138295

Banner Triple #138292
Other:  Sponge wedge
Baker’s Twine of your choice  I used Silver Baker’s Twine #132976
Fast Fuse or SNAIL
Dimensionals

INSTRUCTIONS:
1.  Cut your Watermelon Wonder card base at 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″.  Score and fold at 4-1/4″.  (I would use either Bermuda Bay or Pool Party for the Birthday Boy.)
2.  Cut your Balloon print paper at 2″ wide.  Make sure your print is going the correct direction.  Put the bottom into the Banner Triple Punch to cut the notch off the bottom.   Wasn’t that fun and easy!  Sponge around the edges with Watermelon Wonder ink if desired.  Attach with Fast Fuse or SNAIL.
3.  Stamp the cupcake liner with Tip Top Taupe ink on Whisper White card stock.  Stamp your “Cloud/Frosting” in Watermelon Wonder ink on top of the cupcake liner on the Whisper White card stock AND on some Watermelon Wonder card stock.  Punch out the Watermelon Wonder card stock Frosting.
4.  Color the candle with the Watermelon Wonder  marker and the flame with the Delightful Dijon marker.  Remoisten and stamp so the candle only sticks above the frosting about 1/2″.  Punch out the whole cupcake with the 2-1/2″ Circle Punch.  If your candle is too tall you can use an Oval Framelit. Now sponge around the edge with Watermelon Wonder ink.
5.  Finish the cupcake by coloring the cupcake liner with the Delightful Dijon marker.  Layer on the Watermelon Wonder Frosting with Dimensionals.  Tie a Baker’s Twine bow and attach with a Glue Dot or Tombow Glue.  Put Dimensionals on the back of the Circle and position on the card front.
6.  Your card is now ready to give to the Birthday Girl or Boy.

Card Stock:  Bermuda Bay
Island Indigo
Birthday Bash Specialty Designer Series Paper #137783

INSTRUCTIONS:
1.  Cut your Bermuda Bay card base at 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″.  Score and fold at 4-1/4″.
2.  Cut your diagonal striped Designer Series Paper at 4″ x 5-1/4″.  Sponge around the edges with Bermuda Bay ink.  Attach to card base with Fast Fuse adhesive.
3.  Cut two balloons from the confetti print with gold flecks using your Big Shot and the Balloon Framelit.  Now cut a balloon from Island Indigo card stock using the Balloon Framelit.  Sponge around all the balloons with Bermuda Bay ink.
4.  Choose the Happy and Birthday stamps and place them on the same clear block.  Make sure they fit inside your Island Indigo Balloon.  Stamp in Island Indigo ink.
5.  Put Dimensionals on the back of all three balloons.  Double stack the Dimensionals on the top and bottom of the Island Indigo balloon leaving just one Dimensional on each side.  This will make the center balloon stand out some from the other balloons.
6.  Put a Glue Dot on the string end of each balloon and place some Gold Baker’s Twine on the Glue Dot.  Now attach your balloons to the card front leaving the ends of the Baker’s Twine loose for now.
7.  Trim the ends of the Baker’s Twine now.  These ended at the bottom of the diagonal striped layer.  Gently roll a Glue Dot and attach to the bottom end of each piece of Baker’s Twine and attach to the bottom of your card.
8.  Your birthday card is now ready to give to that special someone.

Super Boy’s Birthday Card

Today is my grandson’s 4th Birthday and he LOVES Super Heroes!  So I made him this Super Card using the Starburst Framelits and the Little Letter Thinlits.  Hope he likes it!
Super Boy's Birthday Card

SUPPLIES:
Stamps:  Big Day  Wood #139109, Clear #139112 (Sale-a-bration product available until March 31, 2015.  See HERE for Details.)
Ink:  VersaMark
Real Red Marker
Card Stock:  Night of Navy
Daffodil Delight
Real Red
Big Shot:  Starburst Framelits  #132967
Little Letters Thinlits #133730
Heat Embossing:  Crushed Curry Embossing Powder #133753
Heat Tool
Other:  Tombow Glue
Parchment Paper OR Wax Paper from your grocery store where the baggies and foil are.
Stylus or Toothpick to help remove letters from Thinlits.

INSTRUCTIONS:
1.  Cut your Night of Navy card base at 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″.  Score and Fold at 4-1/4″.  Watch this video for more card base details.
2.  Cut your Starbursts from Daffodil Delight card stock.  I used the 2nd largest and the smallest.  Edge your smallest Starburst with your Real Red Marker.  Watch this Video for more details on Edging Techniques.
3.  Lay the largest Starburst in the desired position.  Rub your Embossing Buddy over the area you will stamp and include the surrounding areas.  Stamp your sentiment (Happy Birthday) in VersaMark ink.  Remove your Starburst and cover stamped sentiment with the Crushed Curry Embossing Powder.  Remove excess including giving the back a couple of flicks with your fingers to get off the extra little specks.  Now melt the Embossing Powder with your Heat Tool.  Watch this Video if you need help with Heat Embossing.
4.  Cut our your desired letters.  Here is the “Sandwich”:  Megnetic OR Multipurpose Platform (all tabs closed), cutting plate, card stock, Parchment OR Wax Paper, Letter Thinlits, top cutting plate.  I use a larger piece of Parchment Paper and put all the letters I need on top of it.  Might as well conserve our crafting energy by running through as much as possible at one time through our Big Shot.  Run through a second time if you need more than 1 of a letter.  Watch this Video if you need help using Thinlits.
5.  Now to put the letters on the Starburst.  Lay out both words in the desired positions.  Now take the center letter of the top word, put a thin line of Tombow on the back and glue it in place.  This letter will help you place all the other letters so they look even.  Now glue the letter next to it and continue until you finish the top word.  Work from the center letter out in one direction leaving a small space between letters and making sure they are straight up and down (in this case).  I usually finish the end of the word, then go and work back to the beginning of the word.  So I glued down the “P” as my center letter, then the “E”, then the “R”.  Then I did the “U”, and finished up with the “S”.
6.  Find the center letter(s) of the bottom word.  In my case there are two center letters.  Use the middle letter of the top word and mentally draw a line straight down the center of the Starburst.  Place your letters either on top of this mentally drawn line if you have one center letter OR on each side of this invisible line if you have two center letters.  Glue down the rest of the letters working out from the center letters.  I did the “I” and “J” as my center letters, then the “A”, and “H”, then moved to the “L”, then finished with the “E”.  Hope this helps.  Let me know if you want a video on this.
7.  I added the center Starburst as my grandson is now in the “Sunbeam” class at Church.  He is really excited to be a Sunbeam and in with the bigger kids instead of the Nursery.
8.  I put a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Daffodil Delight in the center of the card so he could read my writing.

Happy Card Making!

MDS Embossing Folder Technique and Drop Shadows

It has been a while since I shared a My Digital Studio Technique. This technique gives you the look of using an embossing folder.  It changes the Drop Shadows and uses an overlay stamp.  Play around with this technique to get the look you want.  I will give you the exact Drop Shadows I used for each element in this card as there are a variety.  The instructions will tell you exactly what was done to make the card shown.
MDS Embossed Look Technique

MDS SUPPLIES:
My Digital Studio Software   Several choices.  Contact me if you need help choosing.
Textured Card Stock #120168  Tempting Turquoise
Decorative Overlays Stamp Brush Set  #129880  Tempting Turquoise
Party Time II Stamp Brush Set  #124885  Happy Birthday
Delicate Adornments #132265  Lace
Paper Daisies #121432
Antique Brads #122164
Vintage Adornment Flowers #123602
Lots of Tags Shape 2 Punch #124440

INSTRUCTIONS:
1.  Choose Tempting Turquoise Textured card stock to cover the card base.
2.  Now to get the Embossing Folder look.  Now Choose the Quatrefoil Decorative Overlay stamp.  Change the color to Tempting Turquoise.  The Drop Shadow is 50% Opacity and Blur 0.  You can play around a bit here to get the look you want.
3.  Now choose the Delicate Adornments Lace.  You will need to move it over until you can see the end Gray boxes.  Make it smaller by dragging one of the corner gray boxes until the lace is as narrow as you want it.  Position it as desired.  The Drop Shadow is 70% Opacity and Blur of 4.
4.  Now for the Paper Daisies.  Choose the 3 largest and layer them starting with the largest, medium, and then second to the smallest.   Select all three so you just have recolor and do the Drop Shadow once.  Hold down your Shift Key and select the smallest flower, then the medium flower, then the large flower.  Now let go of your Shift Key.  Recolor them Melon Mambo and use a Drop Shadow of 73% Opacity and Blur of 11.  Since you left all three selected this will work for all three Daisies.
5.  Choose the Antique Brad and place it in the center of your Daisies.  Choose a Drop Shadow of 75% Opacity and the Blur is 3.
6.  Now choose the Tag.  The Melon Mambo one is the original size.  The Whisper White was adjusted two ways.  First by dragging a corner Gray Box, then by dragging the center Gray box on the bottom.  This helped me get it the size I wanted with equal parts of the Melon Mambo tag showing.  Select both Tags by holding down your Shift Key to select the largest first, then the smaller one.  The Drop Shadow is my normal 75% Opacity and Medium Blur for both tags.
7.  Now stamp the Happy Birthday and resize it and put it on the Whisper White Tag.  Change the Color to Tempting Turquoise.  Use a Drop Shadow of  35% Opacity and Blur of 5.
8.  Now for the Vintage Adornment Flower.  Choose the Baja Breeze (bluish) one.  Make is smaller by dragging a corner Gray box.  Move it onto your Tag in the desired position.  Use Drop Shadow of 73% Opacity and Medium Blur.
9.  You now have a digital card you can email to someone and make their day happier.  They will be really impressed with your card!  Now you can experiment with other Digital Overlays and the Drop Shadows to come up with another card.

Happy Digital Stamping!

For You Gift Bag with NEW Thinlit

New Catalog Sneak Peek!Have you ever wanted a little bag made from patterned paper or plain card stock?  Now is your chance with this NEW Mini Treat Bag Thinlit!  You can choose the paper and stamps to coordinate with the card or gift!  I am SO Excited for this!  The “For You” and the Banner shape are also included for a total of TEN items to cut out in addition to the two parts of the bag.  Enjoy!
Mini Treat Bag

SUPPLIES:
Card Stock:  Designer Series Paper or card stock for your Mini Treat Bag
Basic Gray for Banner die cut
Pistachio Pudding for the “For You” die cut
Big Shot:  Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Dies #137547
Other:  Sticky Strip
SNAIL, Fast Fuse, or Tombow
Whisper White 1/4″ Cotton Ribbon #134567
Paper Snips (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS:
1.  Cut the two parts of your Mini Treat Bag out of your Designer Series Paper (DSP) OR card stock of your choice.  Cut out any other desired shapes and words at this time using coordinating colors of card stock to match your DSP.
2.  Put Sticky Strip along the tab score line on the smaller section and also on the other edge with the side you want to see facing so you can see it.  Attach this section to the larger section at the side Tab.  I figured out the placement BEFORE removing the Sticky Strip red backing.  DO NOT  finish attaching the other side just yet!
3.  Decide now whether you want the bottom tab on the outside or inside of your bag.
3a.  If you want your bottom Tab on the Inside of your bag:  Put the Sticky Strip on the front side and outer edge of your bottom Tab.  Remove the Sticky Strip backing from both the side edge and the bottom Tab.  Fold up the Bottom Tab and then close the back of your Bag.
3b.  If you want the bottom Tab on the Outside of your bag:  Close the back of your bag.  You will need to trim the bottom of you bag just a little so the bottom Tab will fold up nicely.  Then add Sticky Strip to the inside edge of your bottom Tab and fold it up.
4.  Now to decorate it!  Tie some ribbon around it so it is on tight enough to stay on by itself.  If it needs help staying on use a Glue Dot or two under the knot.
5.  Attach your die cuts.
6.  Fill with treats, a small card, some cash, or a gift card.
7.  You have a gift bag ready is less than 5 minutes!

Quick Chapstick Holder Stocking Stuffer

My grandchildren enjoy Chapstick so I got them each one for Christmas.  Then came the wrapping process.  The Chapstick Holders I found on Pinterest were rather time-consuming to make multiples.  So I came up with my own version using the Gift Card Envelope Thinlit.
Chapstick Holder

SUPPLIES:
Chapstick:  I used the Blistex brand this time-get at your local store.  SU does not make these  😉
Card Stock in their favorite color
Big Shot & Gift Card Envelope & Trims Thinlits Dies #135854
Fast Fuse Double-sided adhesive (or you can use Sticky Strip.  Glue Dots were not strong enough)
Ribbon or Baker’s Twine
Paper Trimmer with Scoring Blade
Paper Snips

INSTRUCTIONS:
1.  Cut out your 6″ wide card stock using your Big Shot and Gift Card Envelope Thinlit.  Stamp or decorate now if desired.  As you can see mine were left plain.
Chapstick Holder diagram2.  Score 1/2″ from the long Thinlit score line on the inside rectangle of the Gift Card Envelope on both sides as shown in the diagram.  Score the full length of the card stock.  Cut out the triangles you made on the small flaps.  Fold all your score lines.
3.  Put Fast Fuse adhesive where all the pink lines are in the diagram:  Lines in the center section to hold your Chapstick and lines on the outside edges of the larger flaps to hold your container closed.  Place your Chapstick on the center Fast Fuse line, then close the flaps.  Rub where the Fast Fuse is to make sure it sticks to the card stock.
4.  Write a name (You can use one of the tag/banner Framelits that come with the Thinlit.  I was in a rush so I just wrote directly on the container.)
5.  Tie with ribbon or Baker’s Twine to complete your gift.  And it only took a few minutes!  You get quicker with each one you make!

Tea Light Flower

Do you need a quick gift?  Use a battery-operated Tea Light, a sheet of Designer Series Paper, and your Floral Framelits Dies to make these fun, decorative Tea Lights to help brighten someone’s day.
Tealight Flower

SUPPLIES:
Paper:  Your choice of 12 x 12 patterned paper.  I used the retired Polka Dot Parade in Real Red.
Ink:  Cherry Cobbler
Big Shot:  Floral Frames Framelits #127012
Circles Collection Framelits  #130911
Magnetic Platform (optional)
Other:  Stamping Sponge wedge
Bone Folder
Sticky Strip
Glue Dots
Paper Snips or Scissors
Battery Operated Tea Light from your local store

INSTRUCTIONS:
Note:  You can cut two sheets of paper at the same time with your Framelits which makes it easy to make a set of two.
1.
Choose your patterned paper making sure there is a pattern on both sides.  I have also used Vellum to make this flower.  Cut your Designer Series Paper at 6″ x 12″.
2.  Measure the bottom of your Framelit with the Circle Framelits to find the correct size for the bottom.  Note:  I skipped this step on the first one I made so you could not turn the Tea Light on and off because it was covered with paper.  😉
3.  Choose the two largest Floral Frames Framelits to make your project.  Lay out one Floral Frame Framelit on your paper and Magnetic Platform (or Multipurpose Platform with all Tabs closed), then center the Circle Framelit.  Add your top cutting plate and cut out.  Repeat with the other Floral Frames Framelit and the Circle Framelit.
4.  Sponge the edges of the petals if desired.  Cut down about 1″ between each petal on both flowers.  Curl about 1/2″ to 3/4″ of the end of each petal using your Bone Folder.
Tealight Flower diagram5.  Put Sticky Strip around the bottom edge of the side of your Tealight.  Put the smaller flower on first, then add the larger.  Attaching the paper flowers to the Tealight is not an exact process.  It requires some crunching and perhaps tearing between a petal or two of the flower to get it onto the Tealight.  Use Glue Dots to attach these overlapping pieces.  Follow the diagram for attaching the Petals to the Tealight.  Now put Sticky Strip along the bottom edge of your paper flower pressing the paper and the Sticky Strip as flat as possible.
6.  Now add your Larger Flower to the Tealight following the same process as before.
7.  Optional:  You can add Dazzling Details, cut paper (using the same Circle Framelit) with a hole punched for the “flame”, or Glitter to add an extra touch to the top of your Tealight.
