January Stamp Class Cards

Here are the cards we made at my Stamp Class last Friday.  I am taking today off hanging out with my son who just returned from almost 8 years in Germany.

January Stamp Class Cards-1

The Tarnished Foil Technique Card is one of the projects I did for my Creative Techniques Corner subscribers.  Click HERE for more details.

The next card used the Love You Still and Banners for You stamp sets.  We did the coloring with the Blends Markers.

January Stamp Class cards 2

We tested out my NEW Stamparatus for both these cards.  You can order yours in June.

The Party Pandas looked best with 2-3 layers of ink which was super easy to do with the Stamparatus.  I also used the Color Theory Designer Series Paper for the Bamboo stalks and the leaves are from the Everyday Jars Framelits.

The Lovely Wishes card also used the Stamparatus.  We placed the two flower and leaf stamps on one side, then stamped, then rotated the card front and stamped again.  We also lined up the Happy Wishes stamps in the Stamparatus and stamped it.  We again colored with Blends Markers.

Contact me if you have any questions.

Happy Card Making!

Q&A about Stamps

I had a question from a new customer about stamps.  She had ordered “Clear Mount” stamps and thought they would be see-through.  So let me explain a bit about Stampin’ Up! stamps.

Wood Mount Stamps in CaseWood Mount Stamps:
~Red Rubber stamps.
~Come in the thicker Full Wide Stamp Cases (7-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ x 1-1/4″) and Half Wide Stamp Cases (5-1/4″ x 3-1/4″ x 1-1/4″)
~You need to attach them to the wood block that is included.  I generally lay out all the large and medium stamps on the wood blocks to make sure I will be putting them on the block that fits best.  Peel off the paper backing from the stamp and put the stamp on your block.  Now put the clear sticker on the block in the same position you put the stamp.
~Sometimes the blocks fit really tight into the stamp case.  When that is the case, (I-meaning my helper Kiev) cuts a piece of printer paper the size of the bottom and stamps where each stamp goes.  This way I can get all the blocks back into the stamp case.  See photo above.  This side of the case is usually clear.  I (meaning Kiev) added the printer paper and stamped on it so I can get the stamps quickly put away.

Clear Mount Stamps in CaseClear Mount Stamps:
~Red Rubber stamps.
~Come in the thinner Clear-Mount Stamp Cases ( 7-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ )
~Require Clear Blocks in order to stamp.
~Watch this video on how to assemble them.
~Some people have trouble with the stamps and cut part around the edge of the sticker so some of the grey foam stick out.  They say this way they can have the sticker on and the advantage of the foam sticking.  I personally have only had problems with the super small stamps sticking.  I just put either Tombow Glue on the sticker and let it dry overnight, or a 1/4″ strip of SNAIL adhesive.  They will then stick fine.
~If your blocks are clean and the sticker on your stamp is clean, the stamp should stay stuck to the block.

Photopolymer Stamps in CastPhotopolymer Stamps:
~Clear (see-through) Photopolymer stamps
~Can come in either the Clear-Mount Stamp Cases or the Full Wide Stamp Cases depending on how many stamps are included.  Most come in the Clear Mount Stamp Cases.
~Require Clear Blocks in order to stamp.
~Larger images stamp better if you have a Stampin’ Pierce Mat under your cardstock.
~Great for Two-Step stamping and word placement!
~Sometimes stain-usually red.  This does not affect the quality of the stamped image or the stamps.  The staining also helps make the stamps easier to find.

Cleaning Stamps:
~Use the Stampin’ Scrub and Stampin’ Mist to clean ALL your stamps.
~A NOTE about using Baby Wipes.  Some baby wipes will stain your Photopolymer stamps.  They may damage your red rubber stamps over time.  Baby wipes transfer ink to your fingers which can leave ink on your projects.  I do occasionally use baby wipes.  But clean all these stamps with Stampin’ Mist later to remove the damaging residue left on your stamps.

Which type of stamps are my personal favorite?
It depends…..  I like them all, but for different reasons.
~I like wood mount stamps for beginning stampers and for children to use.  I also don’t need to take the time to attach it to a clear block as it is already attached to a wood block.  I really do enjoy putting stamps on wood blocks.
~I like clean mount stamps because they take up less space on my shelves.  They also work well with my NEW Stamparatus!
~I like Photopolymer stamps for words, alphabets, and two step stamps.  I like being able to see exactly where I am stamping.  You can also bend some of the word stamps to fit inside a shaped banner stamp.  These also work well with my NEW Stamparatus!

Hope this helps answer your questions about the different kinds of stamps that Stampin’ Up! carries.

Mixed Medallions Card Kit

Mixed Medallions Card Kit – Level 1 Sale-a-bration item – #147183
Optional:  Glue Dots are provided, but I would rather use the Stampin’ Up! Glue Dots #103683

 1.  Turn card base over so you just see the white inside.  Fold down the card middle, then both sides.
2.  Choose the saying you want, 1 large flower die cut and several smaller flower die cuts.
~Put 2-3 Glue Dots on the Full Circle.  Hold card closed and attach large flower die cut.
~Put 2 Glue Dots on the large flower die cut and attach saying/words.
~Now attach smaller flower die cuts.  You can layer them if desired.
3.  Fold up the card middle and write your message.
Your card is finished.
~If you want a different sentiment, punch out the die cut you want and stamp on the back.
~You can also add any punch or die cut shapes or embellishments you want so you have cards that look different and say different things.
~Coordinating colors: Berry Burst, Calypso Coral, Sahara Sand, Whisper White

Repeat until all eight cards are made.  You now have cards ready to send at a moments notice to brighten someone’s day.

Love You Always Card

This card uses the NEW Love You Still stamp set from the 2018 Occasions Catalog.  I colored it with my NEW Blends Markers.  I hope you have as much fun making this card as I did!
Loe You Always Card

Stamps:  Love You Still  Photopolymer #145811
Banners For You  Photopolymer #141710
Ink:  Memento Black
Real Red
Blends:  Cherry Cobbler Combo Pack #144598
Old Olive Combo Pack #144597
Crumb Cake Combo Pack #144601
Color Lifter #144608
Daffodil Delight Dark #144585
Cardstock:  Real Red
Whisper White
Adhesive:  Fast Fuse or SNAIL

1.  Cur your Real Red card base at 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″.  Score and fold at 4-1/4″.
2.  Cut your Whisper White card front at  4″ x 5-1/4″.
3.  Stamp your Flower Arch image and Love You Yesterday sentiment in Memento Black ink.  Stamp the I Love You in Real Red ink.
4.  Although there are two-step stamps for the Arch, flowers and leaves, I chose to color the images with my Blends Markers.  Make sure you have at least 1-2 layers of scratch paper under your cardstock when coloring as there will be bleed-through of the Blends inks.
~Crumb Cake Dark along the left sides of the wood.  Crumb Cake Light to color in the rest and blend out the lines.
~Old Olive Dark and Light for the leaves.
~Daffodil Delight Dark for the center of the large flower.  I had accidently colored the center with the Cherry Cobbler Dark.  I used my Color Lifter to remove the color, then colored the center with Daffodil Delight Dark.  So I am having you do the Daffodil Delight first.
~Cherry Cobbler Dark for the large flower with the Daffodil Delight center.
~Cherry Cobbler Light for the other three flowers.
5.  Attach your colored card front to your card base.

3.  Big Shot:
~Run your Pink Pirouette card front through with the Sweetheart embossing folder.

~Stamp the Banner in Sweet Sugarplum ink on Whisper White cardstock.  Stamp the words in Rich Razzleberry ink.  Cut out with the coordinating Banner framelit.  (Or you can just cut it out like I did.  My Banner Framelits were in hiding at the time.)

~Lay out the die cut hearts and banner on your embossed card front.  Yes, I did mostly cover the heart shape in the center.
~Glue the Hearts directly onto the card front.

Pandas in the Bamboo

Use the Party Pandas Level 1 Sale-a-bration stamp set to make this card.  It uses few supplies and is FUN to make.  Wish I was up there playing in the trees!
Panda in the Bamboo CardSUPPLIES:
Stamps:  Party Pandas  Wood Mount #147218, Clear Mount #147221   EARN FREE with $50 purchase!
  Memento Black
Real Red Marker or Marker color of your choice
Cardstock:  Whisper White
Old Olive
Color Theory 6×6 Designer Series Paper Stack #144193
Big Shot:  Everyday Jars Framelits #141490 or Leaves of your choice
Tools:  Stamp-a-ma-jig #101049  OR Stamparatus
  Tombow Glue

1.  Cut your Whisper White card base at 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″.  Score and fold at 4-1/4″.
2.  Stamp your Pandas on Whisper White cardstock with Black ink.  Cut them out.
~Wood Mounted:  Use with the Stamp-a-ma-jig to get each Panda a solid black color.
~Clear Mount:  Place your 3 pandas on either a large clear block and stamp with the Stamp-a-ma-jig or on a Stamparatus clear panel as you will need to stamp each one twice to get the solid black color. (At least I did.)
3.  Cut 3-5 strips of the Old Olive Color Theory paper from 1/8″ to 3/8″ wide.  These will be your Bamboo stalks.  The 3/8″ will just fit between the bear paws holding the envelope.
4.  Cut up to 12 of the long stem leaves from the Everyday Jars Framelits.  I used 12 and trimmed off the long stems so the leaves would just fit under the Bamboo Stalks.  You can trim the two branches apart if desired.  In hindsight, I probably used too many leaves.  This is a much busier card than I usually make.
5.  Lay your Pandas, Bamboo Stalks, and Leaves on the card front.  Glue down from left to right, back to front.  This will be messy.  Work on your Silicone Craft Sheet to prevent Glue getting on everything.  Trim off the excess Bamboo Stalks and leaves around your card.
Your Card is finished!

My 8 year old grandson asked what craft I brough for them to make.  He was disappointed I did not bring one.  🙁

Happy Paper Pumpkin Crafting!

2.  Optional: Paper inside the box.
~Choose 2 sheets of matching 6” x 6” DSP.
~Cut ½” off the top of both pieces.  Attach these to the inside top and bottom flaps of your box with Glue Dots.  Trim off the excess.
~Cut both pieces to 5-1/4” wide  by 5-11/16” high (just less than 5-3/4”)
~Score both piece along the 5-1/4” side at ½”, 1”.  The 1/2″ piece at the edge is the side tab.  The piece between the 1/2″ and 1″ score lines is the side of the box.
~Glue each ½” side tab to the straight edge of the other piece.  The inside part of your box is finished.
~Glue your Circle Tag and Banner Tag to the outside of the box.  I always put a large Stamp block on top to hold them in place for a bit.
3.  Optional: Paper outside the box.
~Choose 2 sheets of 6” x 6” DSP.  This will be easier if you choose a pattern that has no specific up and down pattern.
~Cut ½” off one side of both sheets. Then cut into ½” x 4-1/2” strips.
~Cut both sheets at 5-1/2” wide (you just did this cut) x 5-3/4” high.
~Glue one sheet to the front and side of the box starting at either the left or right front edge, the wrap around the side finger pinching along the fold.  Trim excess.  Repeat with other sheet.  Trim off the excess at the sides.
~Glue your Circle Tag and Banner Tag on Front of Box.
